We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Alvarez, Esq. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Starting my own business was a combination of personal experience and a desire to fill a gap I saw in the legal industry. As a small business owner myself, I knew how overwhelming and inaccessible legal support could feel—especially with unpredictable pricing and a lack of tailored services for entrepreneurs.
I wanted to create a law firm that not only provided high-quality legal services but also truly understood the challenges small business owners face. That’s why Small Business Legal Solutions, PLLC (SBLS) was built around flat-fee pricing, transparency, and a commitment to making legal guidance approachable and practical. For me, it was about building a service I wish I had when I was starting out—something that genuinely supports small businesses in protecting their dreams and growing with confidence.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Getting to where we are today hasn’t been easy.
I started law school when my kids were just 5, 4, and 1 years old. Balancing parenting, studying, and building a new career was overwhelming, but I was determined to show my children what perseverance looks like. I completed a JD/MBA program and passed the bar on my first try, something I’m incredibly proud of.
What motivated me most were my kids and my experiences as a small business owner. I knew firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate legal complexities while trying to grow a business. I wanted to create a law firm that could bridge that gap and truly support small business owners.
As a first-generation student, I had no roadmap. I didn’t know how to navigate law school or the legal profession, which is why I launched First Gen Law on Skool (skool.com/first-gen-law)—a free platform to help other students like me succeed.
Of course, I couldn’t have done this alone. My husband, parents, and in-laws were my biggest cheerleaders, and their support helped me stay focused during the toughest moments. Balancing everything wasn’t easy, but I’ve learned to take it day by day and lean on my family when I need to.
Building SBLS is the culmination of those experiences. It’s my way of giving back to the small business community and creating a legacy for my family. I want other entrepreneurs to know they’re not alone and that legal support doesn’t have to be intimidating or out of reach.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d keep it simple and unforgettable.
We’d start with the beaches—a Miami must! There’s nothing like soaking up the sun and strolling along South Beach. For culture, the Perez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) is a favorite of mine with its stunning art and bayfront views.
For dining, I’d take them to some of my favorite spots:
Fiola for an incredible Italian experience
Mandolin Aegean Bistro for fresh Mediterranean vibes
Mignonette for oysters and comfort seafood
Miami’s mix of relaxation, art, and world-class food is unbeatable!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the Boys & Girls Club of Miami. Growing up in Miami, I saw firsthand how organizations like this create safe spaces for kids to learn, grow, and dream big. The Boys & Girls Club has had a lasting impact on our community by fostering mentorship, education, and opportunity for children who need it most.
They’re always in need of volunteers from all walks of life—whether you’re an entrepreneur, a professional, or just someone who wants to give back. The time and skills you share could make a huge difference in a child’s life and in the future of our community.
I’m grateful to have been shaped by a community that values giving back, and I encourage anyone looking to make a difference to consider supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Miami. They truly deserve all the recognition and support they can get!
