We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabrielle, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
You are your best thing – Toni Morrison
We often look to external things to tell us our worth, at least I have often in the past. This quote resonates with me so much because it reminds me that I am my best resource. Not that I know or have everything instead, that I am capable of anything. Getting what I need/want, where I want to be, starts with me. It starts with me to put my best foot forward, it starts with me being honest about wanting support, it starts with me to be vulnerable, it starts with me to have real courage.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m not in the infancy stages of podcasting anymore. I consider myself more of a toddler in the game. Balancing podcasting with work (I work a pretty demanding job) is not always easy. A lot of times when I close my work computer, I really don’t want to open another one – even if it is for something I very much so enjoy doing. And I don’t have a secret Krabby Patty formula about how I overcome challenges – I just keep showing up.
In my podcasting journey, I am learning that with most things in life, I should just keep it simple. The beauty is in the love that me and my guests pour into each episode by sharing our stories. We don’t need fancy things to share our journeys. We just have to show up and speak.
When it comes to Gift of Gab, I want people to know that I am always doing it from the heart. I want them to know that Gift of Gab is a place of love, grace and a good-time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ohhh, well because I am a lover of Mexican food and aesthetics we are definitely going to one of my favorite local restaurants to order margaritas and guac. We absolutely have to visit the Funny Bone to get our laugh. We are definitely sliding to one of my favorite parks to have a picnic so we can just take it easy and catch up. Let’s make sure we hit the beach or even the pool in my neighborhood – water makes everything more fun! Oh and there is a fantastic jazz spot where we can listen to live music – one of my favorites!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have to give a shoutout to my friends. From day 1 they have encouraged me to KEEP GOING. They have supported my highs and lows and everything in between. They support my work and my rest.
