Meet Pamela Bosque | “Taking Risks and striving Success: The Journey of a Foreign-Trained Dentist Entrepreneur”

We had the good fortune of connecting with Pamela Bosque and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pamela, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk-taking has been a pivotal force in both my personal and professional growth. To truly evolve, one must be willing to embrace uncertainty and step beyond the familiar. For me, this mindset has shaped my journey in profound ways.
At 24, I made a life-altering decision to leave my home country of Nicaragua, where I had established myself as a dentist, working alongside my mother in our family-owned practice. I moved to the United States with a clear goal: to complete a residency and obtain my dental license. This bold move was driven by my desire for new challenges and the understanding that staying in my comfort zone would limit my potential.
After nearly seven years in Connecticut—where I completed my residency, passed the licensing exams, and began my career—life felt stable. However, my husband and I felt it was time to pursue a new dream: opening my own practice. In March of 2020, we took another leap of faith by relocating to Miami. What was initially a strategic career move soon became a test of resilience. We had planned this transition for months, but nothing could have prepared us for what lay ahead: the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the pandemic unfolded, all dental offices were forced to close, leaving me without a job and facing a future shrouded in uncertainty. The challenges were daunting, but this unexpected crisis ultimately presented new opportunities. When dental offices reopened, there was a surge in demand for dentists to care for the backlog of patients who had been unable to receive care during the shutdowns. Though the situation was intimidating at the time, if I had chosen to give up and return to where I came from, I wouldn’t have had the chance to achieve the success I enjoy today.
I am a firm believer that without taking risks, there is no room for transformation. And without transformation, we risk stagnation. Risk is the catalyst that drives us forward, opening doors to growth, progress, and new opportunities.

We are committed to enhancing your dental and overall health with the most advanced technology and personalized care.
2. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
Getting to where we are today was far from easy. It required many years of dental and cosmetic training, along with the acquisition of a completely new skill set in business management and leadership. Achieving success also depended on ensuring the entire team was aligned, investing in ongoing training, fostering strong communication, and actively seeking feedback from our patients. Above all, it took immense patience, consistency, and dedication to reach this point.
3. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I come from a small country that many people may not even know on a map, but with the support of my friends and family, I’ve come a long way. I truly believe that with time, effort, and dedication, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Of course, there are challenges, and at times life can feel hard, but the journey—both the good and the difficult—is worth it. Trusting the process may sound cliché, but when you commit to your passion and stay true to yourself, the effort you put in will yield the results you seek. Along the way, I focused not only on developing my dental skills but also on personal growth, surrounding myself with people who shared the same drive to thrive. My story is a reminder that with hard work, perseverance, and a supportive community, anything is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If you’re looking for things to do in Miami, I’m happy to share my favorite spots and experiences. Having fallen in love with this city, it feels like I’m living where others vacation—and I love playing tour guide for friends and family. Whether it’s hosting, showing off hidden gems, or enjoying a weekend activity, Miami always offers something exciting to do.
**Miami Beach:** Living near the beach for the first two years was an incredible experience. South Pointe Park is perfect for watching the sunset, and on Sundays it’s like a mini festival with acro jams, drum circles, and salsa dancing. Don’t miss the monthly Full Moon Meditation, featuring free yoga, sound healing, and meditation (check out @healthymelove). South Beach itself is a must-see—my favorite spot is between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. Grab a bite at Under the Mango Tree for healthy, nourishing food, and enjoy a smoothie while you’re at it. For an active day, I love running along the boardwalk, but biking, roller skating, or simply strolling are great ways to take in the stunning views. For dining, Stubborn Seed and Byblos are my go-tos, and LIDO at The Standard is perfect for sunset drinks.
**Coral Way, Shenandoah, and Little Havana:** I’m lucky to live near my work, which has helped me get to know the local area well. For great food, Chevre (right across from our office) has amazing sandwiches and the best cheesecake in town. We love grabbing cocktails and enjoying live music at The Gibson, and O’ Munaciello offers award-winning pizza. Little Havana is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the heart of Latin culture in Miami. Some favorite spots include Café La Trova, Lung Yai Tapas, Doce Provisions, Ball and Chain for live music and cocktails, for dessert the ice cream at AZUCAR, and La Colada Gourmet for the best coffee.
**Coconut Grove:** Just a 10-minute drive from us, Coconut Grove is always part of our Miami tour. It’s home to fantastic food and vibrant activities. Some of our favorite restaurants are Ariete, Krus Kitchen, and Amal.
**Coral Gables:** Coral Gables offers a more local Miami vibe, with fewer tourists but plenty of charm. I love the restaurants and shops here, with Motek being a top food choice. Miracle Mile is perfect for a stroll, and Books & Books is a must-see for events, music, and coffee.
**Key Biscayne:** On warm weekends, we head to Key Biscayne to paddleboard at Historic Virginia Key or Bill Baggs State Park. The Cleat offers great views and laid-back vibes, while Gramps Gateway is a hidden gem with stunning skyline views and delicious food.
**National Parks:** Miami’s national parks are a must for outdoor enthusiasts. Shark Valley in the Everglades is a great spot for a bike ride and alligator sightings, while Key Biscayne National Park offers fun activities like exploring the reef and mangroves. We love stopping by Robert Is Here afterward for fresh, tropical juices and smoothies.
**Nightlife and Bars:** Miami has amazing nightlife options. Bar Kaiju at The Citadel is my favorite for creative cocktails, and MAD RADIO is always a fun spot afterward. Boia De offers excellent service and delicious food. For dancing and live music, Zey Zey and Magic 13 are great options.
**Art and Culture:** No Miami tour is complete without a stop at Wynwood for the incredible street art. Smorgasbord is perfect for a quick bite, and for a sit-down meal, DOYA (Mediterranean) and DOMA (Italian) are fantastic choices. For something a bit more intimate, NOMADE hosts local concerts and there are tons of wellness events to choose from, including yoga, sound healing, and meditation.
We are into Craft beer and even though our favorite spot closed last year (RIP Union Beer) we have found amazing craft beer at Tripping Animals in Doral, there is also many other breweries in the city but if we had to pick one it would be that one.
Miami offers a new experience every time of year. We enjoy walking to Brickell via the Underline, checking out the farmers’ market at Vizcaya, and strolling through Fairchild Garden. Every weekend, there are wellness events, including puppy yoga, so there’s never a dull moment in this vibrant city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people who have played a vital role in my journey, and it’s hard to pinpoint just one. I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support of my family from the very beginning. My father taught me the importance of dedication and discipline, instilling in me a love for reading and research that has been invaluable throughout my career. My brother has always been my closest friend and teammate, providing constant encouragement and guidance. My mother has been one of the most significant influences in my life. Recognizing the importance of learning a second language, she enrolled us in English as a second language classes from a young age, all while managing the dental practice. Her incredible work ethic and exceptional bedside manner with patients set a powerful example for me. She was a constant source of support throughout dental school and has always been a role model, demonstrating both professional excellence and unwavering dedication. I am deeply grateful for her guidance and inspiration throughout my journey.
When I arrived in the United States, I was fortunate to be surrounded by amazing roommates, friends, and co-residents who helped me navigate a world so different from my hometown. I could never thank them enough for showing me how to adapt and thrive in this new environment. My husband has been my rock, offering unconditional love and support, especially during the challenges of adulthood.
When we moved to Miami, the mentorship and guidance I received from Dr. Katherine Rodriguez were instrumental in shaping my career. I will forever be grateful for the wisdom and opportunities she provided. Finally, I am incredibly fortunate to work with the team at ONE Dental. Their everyday support and dedication make all the difference, and they truly feel like a family away from home. I could not have achieved what I have without the love, support, and guidance from all these remarkable people.
