Meet Gabriela Zamorano | Tech Entrepreneur, Educator & Passionate About Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriela Zamorano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gabriela, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I am from Bolivia, a beautiful country in the heart of South America. Growing up there was incredible, but opportunities were limited, so my family applied for a green card to the U.S. When we finally moved to Miami when I was 10 years old, I knew I had to make the most of this opportunity and make my family proud.
The transition wasn’t easy. I didn’t know English at first, and I often felt out of place. But one thing gave me confidence—math. Numbers made sense to me no matter the language, and that sparked my love for STEM. I immersed myself in math, science, and technology, knowing that these fields could open doors for me.
I remember my mom struggling to find work and telling me how computers had replaced many jobs. That conversation stuck with me. Instead of fearing technology, I wanted to be the person who creates it. I pursued a degree in computer engineering, and it paid off—there were endless opportunities in the field. But deep down, I always knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. While working full-time, I earned my MBA, determined to combine my technical skills with business acumen.
When I started looking into franchise opportunities, I knew I wanted something that aligned with my passion for technology and education. That’s when I found Wize Computing Academy. Today, I run after-school programs and camps that teach coding, robotics, and design to kids ages 4 to 16.
Now, we often hear that artificial intelligence will replace many jobs. While I agree that AI will automate repetitive tasks, I also know that someone has to design, build, and test these AI systems. That’s where the opportunity lies. My mission is to prepare and inspire the next generation of innovators, ensuring they don’t just use technology—but create it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wize Academy brings technology education directly to schools, making it easy and convenient for students to participate in after-school programs that teach coding, robotics, and design. What sets us apart is not just the curriculum, but the experience—we foster creativity, problem-solving, and innovation in a fun, hands-on environment.
Building this business was not easy. I started this journey alone, and expanding was a challenge. At times, I struggled with self-doubt and felt overwhelmed. I had to shift my mindset, let go of limiting beliefs, and trust in my ability to grow and lead. There were moments of anxiety and discouragement when I wanted to give up, but that’s when I truly found God. He gave me the strength and courage to keep going.
As Proverbs 21:5 says, “The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.” This verse resonates deeply with me because my journey has taught me that success comes from persistence, patience, and careful planning.
Through Wize Academy, my mission is to inspire and prepare the next generation of innovators. I want kids to not only use technology but to create it—to see themselves as builders, problem-solvers, and future leaders. My story is one of faith, perseverance, and a passion for empowering young minds, and I hope to continue making a lasting impact through this work.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d make sure they had the best time experiencing the beauty, culture, and energy of South Florida!
Day 1: Lauderdale-By-The-Sea & Beachfront Vibes
We’d kick off the trip with a peaceful sunrise at Lauderdale-By-The-Sea, my favorite childhood beach. After soaking in the morning views, we’d grab breakfast at Anglins Beach Café right on the pier. The rest of the morning would be spent lounging on the beach, enjoying the ocean breeze. For lunch, we’d grab famous Laspada’s subs—a local must-try! After a break, we’d wrap up the day with a beachfront dinner at Beach House in Pompano Beach, taking in the ocean views with delicious food and cocktails.
Day 2: Shopping & Sports Night
We’d dedicate this day to some retail therapy at Sawgrass Mills, one of the largest outlet malls in the U.S. After an afternoon of shopping, we’d stop at Yard House for happy hour and some great appetizers. To end the night, we’d catch a Florida Panthers hockey game—they’re the reigning Stanley Cup champs, so the energy in the arena is unbeatable!
Day 3: Fort Lauderdale’s Waterways & Nightlife
Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America, so we’d spend the day exploring the Riverwalk and hopping on the Water Taxi to see the stunning mansions and yachts along the Intracoastal. After sightseeing, we’d have dinner and drinks at Moxie’s, enjoying great vibes and delicious food.
Day 4: Miami’s Iconic South Beach
No visit to South Florida is complete without a trip to South Beach. We’d spend the day soaking up the sun, walking down Ocean Drive, and exploring the Art Deco district. For dinner, we’d head to Nikki Beach, a South Beach staple known for its amazing atmosphere and beachfront dining.
Day 5: Art & Culture in Wynwood
To mix things up, we’d spend the day in Wynwood, exploring the famous Wynwood Walls, checking out the street art, and soaking in the artsy, vibrant culture. For lunch, we’d grab the most delicious tacos at Coyo Taco—hands down one of the best spots in Miami for authentic Mexican food.
For the rest of the week, I’d leave some room for spontaneous adventures—maybe a boat day, an Everglades airboat tour, or checking out local hidden gems. No matter what, it would be an unforgettable trip filled with great food, beautiful beaches, and amazing experiences!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, I would love to dedicate a shoutout to some incredible people who have shaped my journey.
First, to my mom, who always encouraged me to study and pursue engineering—her support and belief in me made all the difference. To my aunt, who was my biggest cheerleader, always rooting for me—may she rest in peace.
A special shoutout to the United States, a country where dreams truly become reality. And above all, to God, for making it all happen and giving me strength in the moments I wanted to give up.
I am grateful for every challenge and opportunity, and for the people who have stood by me along the way.
