Stories, Lessons & Insights

We were fortunate to catch up with some brilliant artists, creatives and entrepreneurs from throughout the Houston area and they share the wisdom with us below.

I want to be remembered as someone who helped others feel seen, understood, and empowered to take control of their health. If my work inspires even one person to feel better, live longer, and pass that wisdom down to future generations, that’s a legacy worth leaving.
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my business because I saw a gap in healthcare where patients weren’t receiving personalized care, especially when it came to women’s health, metabolic health, and gut issues. After healing from my own health challenges using functional medicine, I realized how powerful it could be to treat the root cause rather than just managing symptoms. Read More>>

As an architect and interior designer, I have learned that if you can dream it, you can achieve it, no goal is impossible, and that life is better with color and creativity. I want my legacy to be how creativity and design can be a powerful healing tool that fosters physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. I want people to remember me as a light on the path, as a story of motivation and personal growth. Like many others, I emigrated from Costa Rica to Miami to live a better life and have more opportunities. Read More>>

The values that matter most to me are integrity, empathy, and growth. Integrity is essential because I believe in being honest and true to my word, which builds trust and respect in relationships. Lastly, I value growth, both personal and professional, because it helps me improve, adapt, and contribute meaningfully to the world around me. These principles guide me in making decisions and shaping how I engage with others. Read More>>

One piece of conventional advice I’ve always disagreed with is the idea that “You have to hustle 24/7 to succeed.” While hard work is undeniably important, the glorification of constant hustle often leads to burnout, strained relationships, and a loss of focus on what truly matters.
In my experience, success isn’t about working yourself to the bone—it’s about working smart, staying aligned with your purpose, and prioritizing what’s most important. I’ve found that taking time to rest, reflect, and recharge is just as critical as the hours you put into your work. In fact, some of my best ideas and breakthroughs have come during moments of stillness, not during the grind. Read More>>

My goal is to serve my community and make a real impact. I want to open a clinic that provides rehab, spine care, and pain management to help people improve their quality of life. Completing a fellowship in interventional spine will give me the skills to offer advanced treatments for pain and mobility. Beyond medicine, I’m committed to mentoring and doing outreach for the youth, showing them what’s possible with hard work and faith. At the same time, I want to maintain my own physical independence and keep growing spiritually. In the end, it’s about helping people live better while staying true to my purpose. Read More>>

My journey has been shaped by both opportunity and adversity. Born in Utah while my parents pursued their graduate studies, I returned with them to Caracas, Venezuela, where I immersed myself in architecture, art, and design. Those years were formative, blending creativity with the rich cultural backdrop of my homeland. However, as a corrupt regime took hold, the landscape changed. The political and economic instability made it increasingly difficult to thrive professionally and personally. Read More>>
