We had the good fortune of connecting with Denny Baco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denny, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The decision to start my own business came from the need to have full control over my creative process. Art, for me, is a continuous exploration, a journey that brings together different disciplines such as painting, design, video-making, and photography. Working independently has given me the freedom to experiment and fully express my vision without external constraints. I’ve always wanted to collaborate with other artists and musicians, creating projects that blend art, music, and culture. Running my own business has allowed me to do this directly, pursuing projects that reflect my sensitivity and endless curiosity.
Starting my own business has given me the opportunity to explore new ways of communicating emotions and the subtle connections I aim to convey through my art, with the goal of offering visual experiences that truly touch the viewer’s soul.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Italian name Baco, inspired by the Cocoon, represents an introspective journey of transformation and growth, mirroring the moth’s metamorphosis into a butterfly. Through my art, particularly painting, I aim to represent nature in its authenticity, strength, and delicacy. I explore the natural and chemical processes that shape our world, using both traditional and modern techniques to reveal the unseen, from microscopic life to distant stars. I believe art helps us see the world from new perspectives, uncovering the fractal patterns that underlie life itself. Additionally, I’m fascinated by how different beings, whether human, animal, or plant, perceive reality through their unique senses. This concept of sensory diversity is central to my work, which seeks to honor and celebrate the complexity of life. My art becomes a manifesto of respect for nature and biodiversity, embracing these diverse perspectives to deepen our connection with the world around us. In parallel, my work as a graphic designer, photographer, and videographer is organized under the name Baco Studio. This allows me to collaborate with artists from various fields, enabling me to create multidisciplinary projects that touch upon different art forms, from music and dance to acting. Baco Studio follows the principles of authenticity and creativity that define my approach, allowing me to bring to life truly diverse and meaningful artistic experiences. I also frequently collaborate with the brand We Don’t Stop by Fernando Mella, where I work on projects for international artists and brands, further expanding my creative collaborations on a global scale.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living in Barcelona inspires me, and I’d love to share it with you. We could start with a sunny walk up Montjuïc, enjoying breathtaking views and exploring nature along winding paths through lush parks. Then, we’d dive into the city center to savor authentic dishes and visit iconic monuments, each telling the city’s story through its unique architecture. I’d also take you to some of my favorite spots, like Bridge48 and LeMURia Continente Cultural, where I’ve made many connections. Poblenou’s vibrant creative scene, full of artistic and tech-driven communities, is a must-see. We could explore the galleries and artistic neighborhoods, where even the bars exude a refined vibe. In the evening, I’d love to organize a night of good music in one of the electronic clubs I frequent, creating an atmosphere of pure energy, rhythm, and sonic beauty.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was born and raised in Sicily, an island in southern Italy where contact with nature is inevitable. This connection has, in my view, been a driving force behind my artistic exploration. The mountains, flowers , seas, and islands have always inspired my work. I am deeply grateful to my family, who has always supported me and believed in my abilities. A special thank you goes to my brother Mauro Grasso an excellent actor and video-maker, with whom I began creating my first videos like “The Island” and who has always been there to lend a helping hand when needed. For my painting, I owe a great deal to my professor Demetrio Scopelliti, who taught me the intricacies of color and composition, guiding me to discover my true artistic style. Finally, I want to thank Eddie DoubleD, a friend and collaborator who has made many dreams and projects a reality. Together, we’ve grown in the art world, exploring fashion, painting, sculpture, design, and jewelry. I truly believe that collaboration is the best way to create something meaningful by sharing common goals and expanding our creative horizons together.
