We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarahi Batista and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarahi, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The idea for starting my business came very naturally. I’ve always loved having picnics, painting, and enjoying drinks with friends or my partner. One day, while we were at a beautiful lake doing just that, it just clicked — I wanted to create an experience where more people could enjoy these simple joys, but with a high-end, luxury touch. I wanted to blend my love for art, creativity, nature, and entrepreneurship into one unique experience.

That’s how Musas Events was born. Inspired by the Muses of ancient Greece — goddesses who guided the creation of art, music, and intellectual thought — Musas Events reflects that spirit of creativity and inspiration. It’s a space where women, our modern-day goddesses, can feel empowered, relaxed, and free to explore their creative energies.

I also wanted to create something special for couples — an opportunity to connect on a deeper level, outside of the usual dinner or movie date. Personally, picnic and paint dates have strengthened my own relationship in extraordinary ways, and I knew it was something others could benefit from too. Whether it’s a special occasion like a birthday, marriage proposal, anniversary, or simply a night out, I wanted Musas Events to offer a creative, picturesque, and memorable experience that stands out from the ordinary.

At Musas Events, we specialize in creating unforgettable moments through our luxury picnics and Sip & Paint experiences. Whether it’s one of our curated themes or a fully personalized event, we bring elegance, creativity, and attention to detail to every gathering. Our events can take place at a location preferred by the client — whether it’s a private property, a venue they provide, or a park or beach we have partnerships with.

From intimate picnics to larger group celebrations, we take care of every detail — from stunning decor to curated activities — allowing our clients to relax, sip, and enjoy. What sets us apart is our outstanding customer service, our ability to deeply understand our clients’ needs, and our creativity when designing unique, personalized experiences. I’m excited and proud to be sharing this unique concept with people all across Miami-Dade and beyond.

How did you get to where you are today business-wise? Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way?

I studied Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Management, but no amount of education fully prepares you for the real experience of starting your own business. Building Musas Events has required time, dedication, consistency, an open mind, and a strong willingness to learn and adapt.

There were definitely challenges, especially understanding the specific requirements and regulations for a business model like ours. Since luxury picnics and creative event planning are still relatively new industries, there weren’t many clear guidelines when it came to licensing, taxes, and working with public spaces management. A lot of times, I had to do extra research or find creative solutions where there was no clear path.

One key lesson I learned is the importance of preparation. For anyone looking to start a similar business, I highly recommend doing thorough research first — watching videos, reading blogs, and learning from seasoned professionals in the luxury picnic and event industry was incredibly helpful to me. Challenges will always come, but persistence, passion, and resourcefulness are key to overcoming them.

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

I’m a passionate individual driven by a love for art, creativity, and connection. Musas Events was created to share beautiful, memorable experiences with others — experiences that celebrate creativity, relationships, and life’s special moments. Through Musas Events, I hope to inspire people to slow down, connect more deeply, and enjoy the simple but extraordinary moments that make life so beautiful.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, I’d want to give them an unforgettable taste of Miami! We’d start with a relaxing day at South Pointe Beach — it’s one of my favorite spots with beautiful views and a laid-back vibe. For a fun and unique experience, we’d visit the Museum of Ice Cream — it’s colorful, interactive, and definitely Instagram-worthy!

When it comes to food, I’d take them to Level 6 in Coconut Grove for amazing bites and stunning rooftop views. For a night out, we’d head to Brickell — starting with cocktails at Rosa Sky, known for its dreamy skyline views, and then over to Sexy Fish for a lively, upscale vibe and some of the best drinks in the city.

Miami is full of energy, creativity, and culture, and I’d want them to experience the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and nightlife!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A special shoutout to my sister, Maria Batista, and my husband, John Ortiz. They are truly my support system, and I’m so grateful for their constant belief in me and for standing by my side throughout this journey. Whenever I need advice, a helping hand, or words of encouragement to keep me going, they are always there. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their love, support, and unwavering faith in my vision.
