We had the good fortune of connecting with Will Halvey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Will, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have had a passion for sharing the gift of yoga, meditation and community for over two decades. I recently retired from Corporate America. I was able to finally make valued time of my practice, with a focus on building yoga for all. I believe with this level of commitment and realism, the success will grow organically.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started out a few years ago formally teaching yoga, mostly to small groups and one on one sessions. Prior to that, I was always sharing my yoga practice at the gym with fiends/family, whether on trips, out at the park or in my beautiful backyard. Growing small and organically, has given me the confidence to expand to larger studios and to the greater community where I live.

I would say, it is simple for me to express the benefits of yoga along with meditation to everyone I meet, although not always easy to guide those interested into a regular practice. I continue to live by example. I continue to tell my story. I continue to breath love of a yoga practice out to the world. Spirit Will Yoga uses the physical component foundation to build a stronger connection with the Mind and Spirit. What I have learned is that you are ready when you are ready, simple and easy as that.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My obvious answer and first one is to go to the beach. At Sunrise, at Sunset and on a clear night to awe at the moon.

South Florida has many vibrant areas to catch the vibe, as well as a plethora of history that honors the beauty we are surrounded by.

I would grab some delicious bites along Wilton Drive in Wilton Manors. Rosies for Brunch, Ethos for some Greek delights, Spencers for home cooked plates and Apt. 9f for tapas and drinks. Then or course, stop by one of the many bars, clubs and venues for great conversation with eclectic entertainment.

From Lauderdale by the Sea to Delray Beach, we would step back into the nostalgic Florida. Soaking up the rays and local music.

Another day, we could Hop on a Water Taxi and later take a Sunset Cruise on a boat out of Bayfront Park in downtown Miami. Head to Brickell for some for latin atmosphere way above the norm, and then head down to Calle Ocho to try the Cuban flavors. If we have time, let’s head to the Wynwood section in Miami for some art, and quite the different exhibits from around the world. A bit of Art Basel. Of course, stopping at Zak the Baker for some of the best bread and lunch items to fuel up.

Getting out into nature is easy with Butterfly World in Coconut Creek, riding an Airboat at Everglades Holiday Park, and find peace Kayaking along Whiskey Creek.

I would top the week off with a visit to The Bonnet House Museum and Gardens in Fort Lauderdale.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Main Person on my Journey that has influenced me the most is Lisa Goodwin. Credit also goes to my incredible South Florida Yogi Tribe, my first Thai Massage Therapist Noom, and to my amazing partner Ari.
