We had the good fortune of connecting with Milanz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Milanz, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
That you have to have everything figured out to go after what you want. Start with what you got, It’s more than enough to get you to your next step and you’ll figure everything else along the way. Trust yourself, your vision and god.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started acting when I was young but I knew it wasn’t going to be my main path. I’ve always loved the freedom of creative expression and I always was inspired by madonna, gaga, Britney, all the main pop girls. I dropped out of high school at 17 to Get a job at a burger shop and started saving money up to make music. Started as a rapper funny enough. I removed all my rap songs from streaming platforms sadly because I wasn’t sure its who i wanted to be as an artist but I took vocal lessons back in 2020 and since then, started tapping into blues/rock and acoustic sounds. I then branched out in a more pop/dance/R&B sound and been that way since. I am now working on new stuff, its been a year I haven’t released anything but im working on my own now doing everything myself which takes more time, organization and discipline but im here for it. Music really helps me finding and reinventing myself in each phase of my life and i hope to do the same for people with my upcoming music & creative projects. It wasnt so easy, trusting myself at first. Because i used to suffer a lot from imposter syndorme but with time ive worked on that and i am more confident, secure and i dont really care anymore what people think. i do it for myself and who ever vibes vibes you know?It feels too good to epress yourself than to repress what you have inside because of some past trauma and insecurities. I want people to feel when they hear me. Whatever it sounds like, dance, sad, at least it’ll be passionate and i hope thats the first thing that’s convayed in my music.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitly say north beach. In my opinion its the best location because its calm, its in between south beach and bal harbour/Aventura the pretty places and there’s burgers & shakes hahaha. And the beach is not too crowded and beautiful over there. I would definitely go out to the little hidden cuban spots to eat, it will leave u full and satisfied for a little buck! doesn’t need to be Nobu Loll. Definitely having a drink at the Fontaine bleu bar is a vibe for a cute little solo date night. I would tell them to definitely take a stroll in Brickell and Wynwood, touristic but always fun tbh.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Honestly, my friends for the past 3 years. They really helped me become who I am now. I got to learn how to really open myself up to people and be comfortable being seen for who I am. It helped me a lot considering part of my job is to be amongst people. I would also like to credit my vocal coach who helped me find my voice and give me the right techniques to be able to vocalize what I hear in my mind when It comes to creating music. Lastly my Mom who is literally my rock. Since day one.
