We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Tejeda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As a single mother of a child with autism, work-life balance has always been less about finding a perfect “balance” and more about learning how to adapt. Early on, it felt nearly impossible—between therapy appointments, school meetings, meltdowns, and trying to maintain a job, I constantly felt like I was choosing between being a good mother and being a reliable employee.

Over time, though, I’ve become more intentional and realistic. I’ve learned to prioritize fiercely and accept that some days the scale will tip more toward parenting, and other days toward work. Flexibility has been key—not just in my schedule, but in my mindset. I’ve had to let go of the idea of “doing it all” and focus instead on doing what matters most in each moment.

Now, I think of work-life balance not as a 50/50 split, but as a flow—being present where I need to be most, while also making space for my own well-being so I can show up fully in both roles. It’s not easy, and some days are still overwhelming, but I’ve learned to give myself grace. Every step I take is for my child, and that gives me strength to keep going.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m the CEO and founder of the first ABA center in Florida to offer robot-assisted instruction for children with autism. What sets our center apart is the integration of cutting-edge technology with evidence-based therapy, providing children—especially those who struggle with traditional approaches—a unique and engaging way to learn and grow. As a single mother to a child with autism, this work is deeply personal. I created the kind of center I once wished existed: innovative, compassionate, and truly tailored to each child’s needs.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I faced financial hurdles, doubt from others, and the challenges of balancing motherhood with entrepreneurship. But every challenge became fuel to build something meaningful. Through this journey, I’ve learned that resilience, purpose, and staying true to your mission are key. My goal is not just to transform therapy through technology, but to give families hope, support, and a place where their children can thrive.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I’d want to give them a perfect mix of relaxation, culture, amazing food, and unforgettable views.

Day 1 – Welcome & Fine Dining
We’d kick off the trip with a sunset beach stroll in Miami Beach to shake off the travel fatigue. Then, straight to Ferraro by Igor Ferraro, my absolute favorite restaurant, for a cozy yet elegant dinner. Their attention to detail and rich Italian flavors set the tone for the week.

Day 2 – Art & History
We’d start the morning at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens – it’s like stepping into a European fairytale right in Miami. Afterward, lunch at a waterfront café in Coconut Grove. In the afternoon, maybe some boutique shopping or a coffee break in Wynwood, finishing the day with cocktails and people-watching at a rooftop bar.

Day 3 – Palm Beach Day Trip
We’d take a little road trip up to visit the Flagler Museum – the history and elegance there are so underrated. We’d follow that with a long lunch at a chic spot in Palm Beach and maybe catch the sunset at The Breakers before heading back.

Day 4 – Chill Beach Vibes
A slower day. We’d spend it on the beach—chairs, umbrellas, fresh fruit, and a good playlist. In the evening, dinner somewhere fun and colorful like Little Havana, maybe with live music or salsa dancing if the mood strikes.

Day 5 – Nature & Local Flavor
Morning walk or paddleboarding at Oleta River State Park, then hit up a local farmers’ market or food trucks for lunch. We’d go casual but full flavor—maybe tacos, arepas, or fresh ceviche. Dinner would be back in the city, maybe in Brickell or the Design District.

Day 6 – Cultural Mix-Up
Museum-hopping day: Pérez Art Museum or the Frost Museum of Science, depending on their vibe. Then, maybe a late lunch at Mandolin Aegean Bistro for a Mediterranean escape. Nighttime would be for a live show—comedy, jazz, or something at the Arsht Center.

Day 7 – Relax & Reflect
We’d ease into the day with brunch, maybe at Greenstreet Café, and then just wander: grab souvenirs, explore a hidden bookstore or art gallery. For the last night? Back to Ferraro for a final toast and a perfect ending to a week well spent.

To me, what makes Miami special is how it blends cultures, nature, food, and personality all in one place—and I’d want my best friend to feel every bit of that magic.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, I dedicate my shoutout to my father. He is the foundation of everything I believe about hard work, resilience, and the true meaning of success. He grew up with very little—often going to bed hungry, lacking access to basic resources—but he never let those circumstances define him. Instead, he taught himself how to read, pursued every opportunity to grow, and prepared himself so thoroughly that he eventually became a financial analyst for Mazda in Latin America.

Watching his journey taught me that success doesn’t come without sacrifice. He never handed me a life of ease, but he gave me something much more valuable: the example of what it means to push through adversity with dignity and purpose. His story reminds me daily that where we start does not have to determine where we end up. Every time I face a challenge, I think of him and the quiet strength he modeled for me. He deserves all the credit in the world—not just for what he accomplished, but for how deeply he inspired me to keep going, no matter what.
