We had the good fortune of connecting with Melissa Menendez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Melissa, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been a beauty girl through and through. I was the one doing friends’ makeup when they would sleep over, spending hours coloring glamorous girls in coloring books, making sure their blush and eyeshadow matched. I also spent time in modeling, and out of everything we learned in our classes, makeup and color theory were always my favorite parts. That’s when I realized I wasn’t just playing with makeup products, I was studying them. Art and creativity have always been my outlet, and makeup ended up becoming the perfect blend of both. It’s like painting, but the canvas smiles back.

Choosing a creative career felt natural to me because it’s the one place where I can fully express myself and make others feel beautiful at the same time. I didn’t just want a job—I wanted to build something of my own, where my artistry could actually make people feel seen, celebrated, and confident. I’m still growing, learning, and pushing myself to the next level, but I know I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Makeup is my art, but connection is at the heart of everything I do. I don’t just show up with a brush, I show up with love and intention. My goal is to make every client feel like they’re hanging out with a friend who just happens to be really good at glam. I focus on enhancing natural features, not hiding them. My style is effortless, elevated, and always true to you.

What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come with Beautivisor. I built this brand from scratch with consistency, heart, and a whole lot of belief in my vision. There were moments of doubt, comparison, and burnout—but I kept going, took every opportunity seriously, and trusted the process.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that you don’t need to have it all figured out to start. The magic is in showing up, even when it’s hard. Everyone’s journey looks different, and that’s okay. If you stay true to yourself, your people will find you.

Beautivisor isn’t just about makeup—it’s about making people feel seen, celebrated, and confident. That’s what I want to be known for.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit Miami for a week, we’d keep it fun but low key. Good food, good vibes, and just the right amount of activity. First stop: food always. Probably Skinny Louie’s if we’re craving smash burgers, because nothing hits like a really good burger.

For daytime chill vibes, definitely a beach day. Something calm like North Beach, or even a sunrise moment with coffee and no crowds. We’d pack snacks, music, and just relax.

I also love a good museum moment, so we’d check out the Frost Science Museum. I’ve always loved places that make you feel curious or like a kid again.

Miami has its wild side, but for me, the best version of it is slower-paced, full of great eats, and doing little things that make you feel good. That’s the vibe I’d share with anyone coming to visit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely! There’s no way I’d be where I am without the support and love of the people around me. First and foremost, I have to give a huge shoutout to my boyfriend. From day one, he’s been my biggest supporter. The one who hyped me up, encouraged me to chase this dream, and reminds me what I’m capable of even on the hard days. He’s the reason I had the confidence to start Beautivisor in the first place, and he continues to push me every day to dream bigger and keep going.

I also have so much gratitude for my friend Selena Rabbito, who welcomed me into the industry with open arms. Early on in my makeup journey, she took me under her wing, shared her knowledge, and helped me navigate this industry in ways I’ll never forget.

It really does take a village, and I’m lucky to have such incredible people in mine.
