We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Santos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It was a long time coming. I had spent nearly 15 years in the events industry, working under incredible mentors, planning weddings, executing galas and activations, and building a career I was genuinely proud of. But for a long time, imposter syndrome kept me from believing that all of that was enough to go out on my own.
I think the turning point was really just getting honest with myself. My husband had been sending me referrals for years, believing in me before I fully believed in myself. And I was raised by an entrepreneurial mother who taught me through her actions that hard work and faith can take you anywhere. Those two things were always in the back of my mind.
Eventually I stopped waiting for the “perfect moment” and started trusting that this was my time.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
By Samantha Santos is a luxury event planning and consulting firm based in South Florida, specializing in weddings and high-end private events. We bring a bespoke, detail-obsessed approach to every event we touch, ensuring that each client’s vision is not just executed but elevated.
What sets us apart is the depth of experience behind the brand. I have spent nearly 15 years working across every sector of the event industry, from intimate weddings to large-scale nonprofit galas and corporate activations for some of the most recognized organizations and brands in the country. That breadth of experience means I bring a level of operational knowledge, vendor relationships, and creative instinct to my clients that goes far beyond what a newer planner can offer. When you work with By Samantha Santos, you are getting a seasoned professional who has seen it all and knows how to handle whatever comes up.
I chose to root myself in the wedding space because it is where my heart has always been. People often say weddings are one of the hardest corners of the event industry because of the emotional weight and the range of budgets involved. And yet, the emotion is what makes this work meaningful to me.
The part of this journey I am most proud of is simply having the courage to bet on myself after so many years of playing it safe. The most challenging part has not been the events but rather the business side of things. For my entire career I was an employee, and stepping into the role of owner has required an entirely different skill set but thankfully I didn’t have to figure it out alone. My husband and my mom are both business owners, and having them in my corner to guide me through the operational and entrepreneurial learning curve has been invaluable.
What I want people to know about By Samantha Santos is that this brand was built on intention. Every experience I have had in this industry, every event, every challenge, every mentor, led me here. The business may be new but the expertise behind it isn’t, and I am just getting started!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Day one, we are checking into the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables. It is one of those places that stops you in your tracks and, full disclosure, I am completely biased because it is where I got married. It holds a very special place in my heart, which is probably why it is also one of my favorite venues to host weddings. We would spend the morning at the spa and afterwards, head into town to browse Books and Books in the afternoon and head to an early dinner at Calista.
Day two we are heading to Miami Beach for a full beach day. We would grab a Resort Pass, post up by the water, and just relax. Then head back home for a low-key dinner at Fratellinos, one of my personal favorites and the kind of place that feels like a warm hug.
Day three, we make the drive to Bal Harbour Shops for window shopping and lunch at Carpaccio. It is the perfect send-off. Beautiful setting, great food, and just the right amount of indulgence.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without question, my shoutout goes to Melissa Davis of Melissa Davis Designs.
Melissa is where my career truly began. She taught me the art of luxury weddings from the ground up and, more importantly, she believed in me from the very start. In addition to training me professionally, she also cultivated my passion and championed my growth.
Even after I transitioned into corporate and nonprofit events, Melissa was never more than a text away, always showing up for me professionally and personally.
When I made the decision to launch By Samantha Santos, she was my very first call. Without hesitation, she shared her resources and sent leads my way. That is not something I take for granted.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have crossed paths with her.
