Meet Harrison Gross | CEO & Co-Founder of Lucyd

We had the good fortune of connecting with Harrison Gross and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harrison, what is the most important factor behind your success?
There are no shortcuts to building a great business – it takes vision, dedication and significant resources. I always chalk up our success to a combination of three elements, which I think are foundational components to any business: Team-the people you surround yourself with, including staff, advisors, investors and influencers.
Tech-the product or service you provide, its differentiation from competitors, and related intellectual property.
Passion-the drive to succeed and create wonderful customer experiences.
Defining your team, tech and passion should be the first step for an entrepreneur looking to start a new business. Re-examining these elements on a regular basis can also provide insight and improvements to core processes, but altering these fundamentals can cause the business to lose ground, so it should not be done lightly.

What should our readers know about your business?
Our mission is to Upgrade Your Eyewear®, by adding useful tech features to comfortable designer glasses. From the start, we have worked to make smartglasses more accessible, useful and enjoyable for the average person. It’s been a long journey to get where we are, a market leader in smartglasses. It started as a project in a tech incubator, then a crowdfund, and now a public corporation. Every step of the way, the corporate structure grew alongside our core product offering.
The biggest challenges have been funding and product-market fit. Smartglasses are a capital-intensive product category for a number of reasons, and also one that is still searching for the best answers to customer needs. So defining the right form factors and smart features in each product has been an incredible challenge.
What I want the world to know about us is that we genuinely are here for one thing: to upgrade your eyewear. We want to make it easy and painless to switch from regular glasses to smartglasses, which can make you more efficient, productive, and aware. We are a fairly unique business operating in a difficult emerging category – wearables, and more specifically, smart eyewear. This is a cross-disciplinary product category that is directly between traditional optical eyewear and Bluetooth audio devices. Making a product in an emerging category is extremely difficult as you are carving new ground in so many ways, and smartglasses in particular are a group of products for which there has been no commercial breakthrough product yet.
We are aiming to change that by providing smartglasses in more styles, sizes and modalities than any other company – and we have achieved that, alongside of numerous industry firsts such as the first glasses with a direct connection to ChatGPT via voice.
It all started with our identification of a serious market need, and filling it–smartglasses that were light, comfortable and Rx-adaptable to be suitable for all-day wear by typical eyeglass users.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh, this is a great question! So when one of my best friends visited a few years ago, I took him to some of my favorite places in Miami. We started strong with the 3 Points music festival, and then hung around North Beach, my favorite neighborhood in the city. I also feel obliged to bring people to Bayside for a boat tour from time to time–the celebrity house cruise makes for a great work outing. The Hollywood boardwalk is also a go-to for out-of-town visitors.
Top restaurants for 2025: Sichuan Fish in NMB for super-authentic Chinese, Bar Bucce for pizza, Naomi’s for a massive pile of Caribbean food, Bar Kaiju and Manjay or USBS for great drinks and food at the Citadel, and you have to throw in a rooftop so I would say the roof bar at W Hotel in South Beach. The Standard also has an amazing bayside bar.
Two places I haven’t been that are uniquely Miami, that I am trying to get to: Joia Beach and the Venetian Pool!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family has been extremely supportive throughout this journey. My dad is an engineer and has tons of experience with capital markets, and he helped realize the Lucyd dream from the very beginning. My mom has also been supportive with encouragement and investment in the company. Next is my adopted family, the Lucyd team–I have brought together an amazing group of dedicated professionals who have rolled up their sleeves to make the vision a reality. It took years and years to get to the right mix of people, and now that we have it, it feels like we can accomplish anything together.
