Our team and our desire to be exceptional in this very niche space – preserved moss green walls. Everyone on the team has a growth mindset and is always looking to improve and innovate. My team comes from a really diverse background (there isn’t a school that teaches about this material and all its wonderful quirks)- so it requires a lot of flexibility and creativity. Everyone on my team is in a process of continuous learning – which doesn’t work for every kind of person. Also, our standards and pace are very high, so we truly need excellence to excel and exceed our clients’ expectations. We’ve also further carved out a niche with moss logos – which we call plant branding – which feeds into a lot of companies desire to appear more “green” without the hassle of maintenance or special lighting or watering conditions. I think our timing is good, while matched with a truly unique product, and a dedicated team who really loves this work. Even with the most basic piece, we elevate with a very unique technique and attention to detail and finishing. We are so lucky to work in a field where we can spread a lot of happiness through our work. We love what we do and we put that energy into every project.

I started Green Wallscapes by accident. My husband and I saw a moss wall we liked on Pinterest, and decided we could make it ourselves. Our two first pieces (which were a disaster in comparison to what we make now) were just for our house. Then we started getting requests for moss walls from our friends and colleagues who wanted them for their offices or homes. We started with a large project for the South Florida Fair, then a multifamily project that was being developed by a friend, all while working full time. It was very much a side hustle. In 2017, the project I was working on was coming to a close, and my husband said I should try and make Green Wallscapes work. So I started working on the marketing and a very basic website. Very early on, we started getting calls from major brands, yoga studios, hair salons, and restaurants all over the US. It was almost magical. I’ve had 4 other businesses, that definitely did not catch on the way that this one did. I then started hiring, now I have a team of five amazing women who work with me and elevate the work every day. They truly love this material – and bring such amazing creativity and growth to this sector. One of our most popular applications – the Amazonia Collection – combines preserved moss and ferns and faux succulents, came as one of those innovative uses. People cannot tell the piece isn’t alive, but has a tremendously vibrant look and feel! It’s perfect for people who are seasonal – no watering or special lighting required. Has it been easy? Absolutely not. Has it been mossome? yes.
