Meet Garrett Olano | Digital Marketing Agency Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Garrett Olano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Garrett, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When I started my business I had more time than money. I did almost everything myself. I wanted to learn the mechanics, build a reputation, and bootstrap from the ground up. That season was about time on task and learning in the trenches.
As I gained experience, balance started to mean something different. I stayed hands on where I add the most value. I delegated the rest. Now I focus my time on the work that moves the business forward. Creative strategy, content, and relationships. I protect time for life outside the business so I can show up with real energy.
I think balance is subjective and seasonal. Some weeks are heavy. Others are lighter. I manage energy more than I manage hours. When I am in flow creating or solving problems it can look like a lot of work, but it fuels me. The unglamorous tasks still show up. I batch them, delegate when possible, and keep them from stealing focus. For me balance means doing the essential work well, then resting on purpose, so I can do it again tomorrow.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sugoi is a boutique digital marketing agency focused on digital brand building. I started Sugoi after a stretch of freelance work that gave me the skills and confidence to go all in. We began in health, wellness, and home improvement, then grew into multiple industries. The growth has been organic. No venture capital. Bootstrapped from day one.
We partner with clients who have bold ideas and who align with our focus on brand and measurable results. We take on a select number of clients at a time, allowing us to deliver high-quality work and tangible outcomes. I stay hands-on and have worked across every service we offer.
I created Sugoi to provide personalized, data-driven marketing that cuts through the noise of platforms and tools. As a business owner, I treat my clients’ budgets as if they were my own. I want them to see results and reach their goals.
I am proud of the journey, the clients we have learned from, and the memories we have made. Each year brings new challenges and clearer direction. We have upcoming projects that signal the next level for Sugoi.
It has not been easy. There were sacrifices and sleepless nights. What got me through was simple. One step at a time and my best each day.
I have learned to be grateful. I do not let outcomes define me. I let character, choices, and values do that. I try to let go of what I cannot control and continue to follow my interests. You never know where they will lead. And at Sugoi, we care deeply about our clients’ success.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is a vibrant city with distinct neighborhoods that each have their own unique flavor.
I would start simple. Beach time on South Beach, then a walk to South Pointe Park and the pier. Definitely some wings at Flanigan’s, then a jet ski or boat ride on Biscayne Bay to catch the skyline and the sunset.
For culture, I love the Pérez Art Museum Miami and Frost Science next door. Would definitely need to stroll in Wynwood and see the artwork on the buildings and walls.
For a snack, Taquiza has its popular blue corn tortilla chips to munch on.
Little Havana is a must: Cuban coffee and classic plates at Versailles or La Carreta.
At night, I would bounce between Brickell, Downtown, and South Beach for drinks and lively atmospheres.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shout out my family and friends for steady support. Early clients who believed in me before the proof existed. Mentors I have met and the ones I met in pages, including books I stumbled into and the ones I sought out. Creative collaborators and freelancers who make the work better. None of this happened alone and I am grateful for every nudge, lesson, and open door.
