We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Telleria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victor, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I decided to pursue an artistic career because at the end of the day, art is one of the things that fulfills me the most. In every aspect. Art makes me feel and think so much more than any other medium. It moves me forward and provides a certain type of happiness I can only truly find when making art, especifically music. To be able to create pieces of art (music) that provide deep feelings (be it happiness, sadness or euphoria) and share it with the world for them to experience, is the ultimate career choice for me.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I’ve always strived to be a different artist in the music industry. Ever since I started making music I knew I wanted to position myself as different and I knew i’d be that if I made different styles of music. A lot of current artists focus on 1 genre or style and stay on that lane perfecting their craft through the years. Me on the other hand, I’ve always been inspired by all kinds of music and interested in creating them. So I knew I was going to position myself as a multi-genre artist. However, since my main “weapon” as a musician is being a producer, it’s easier to explore and create different types of beats/songs with multiple influences. After releasing a couple of experimental songs, I went for a big year-long project called “twelf” where I released 1 new song each 12th of the month throughout all of 2020. The catch was that each song had a different genre. It was the perfect way to introduce my art to the world and my vision as an artist. It basically set the stage for all the music coming up and who I wanted to be as an artist. That is one of the projects i’m most proud of. It showed me a lot on how to release music, how to market it, how to collaborate, deal with deadlines and all of that! Especially since i am a fully independent artist. So it definitively was not easy but it’s rewarding to see such a big project finished and know it’ll reap its rewards soon enough. I believe it serves as a great introduction to who I am musically.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh Miami has so much places to offer! However, I’d make sure that on my list Space is there. As a music lover, Space has been definitively the one place that I’ve found myself going over and over again to experience multiple artists play DJ sets. On top of that, the decoration on the terrace is magical and you can definitively feel the vibe when you are there. I would compare it to something like a futuristic disco-jungle because of it’s great use of plants and lighting as decoration. This would be our Saturday night outing but before this I would definitively take him/her to Wynwood to walk around and take in some of the amazing street art. I’d stop to have lunch at 1-800 Lucky to get some Asian inspired cuisine which is really good. What’s also cool is that they have a section that is a record store. There are so many amazing records to check out there and buy so it’s a must go! To change things up a bit, I would go to Key Biscayne the next day and rent some bikes on Crandon Park just to connect with nature. It’s a nice time to ride around there and feel the breeze next to the beach. After enjoying some bike rides you can go to the beach right there and enjoy the vibes!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I completely agree with this statement! My shoutout is to every single fan/listener that supports my music and connects with my art. It’s been a crazy ride since the beginning and at first it was very lonely. I used to put out music and it didn’t get much attention but i knew it was because i was only starting on this journey. After a couple of years of continued hustle and perseverance, more and more have joined my journey and have supported me by listening and sharing my songs! Plus i’ve gotten some wonderful messages of how they’ve connected with certain songs and how much they mean to them. So I’m very grateful to those hardcore fans that have joined me while still being an up and comer and to every single new one that comes along for the ride.
