We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Joseph and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
As a creative who did not begin with selling products , I realized very quickly how important it is to be able to market myself. Before I became the author of my e-recipe book ’12 Signature Fly Recipes’ , essentially I was not only the host but the product and the brand in my business. As creatives in the food/youtube realm , people only see the end results and interpret what they see as easy or something anyone can do. Many may not realize the amount of work I put into every aspect of my business whether its a Fly Eats Kitchen segment or my interviews on IG with Fly Eats Show Live and the final product seen. It takes a lot of work for you to feel comfortable enough to show authenticity and to get people to relate to you enough to want to support you. Engaging in my social media posts, sharing my youtube content or purchasing my E-Recipe book and the merch are all ways to support small businesses like mine in a major way and propel growth.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career as a flight attendant really catapulted my creative side into a realm I never imagined. I believe sometimes you need to change your environment to really ignite your best parts and that’s what flying did . I was forced to move to a different state and really learn how to explore different parts of me or tap into things I buried. I started a blog sharing my flying adventures but more specifically my foodie explorations. I began to think about how I could make my passion my purpose and Fly Eats Show was born . A show , highlighting eateries but also creating a platform for dope guests who are artists, creatives , entrepreneurs etc. Fast forward to Covid and I began hosting my show Live On IG with a virtual fly dinner as well as a cooking segment called Fly Eats Kitchen on my YouTube channel. It would have been easy to blame Covid or use Covid as a crutch to not continue with the show but instead I chose to pivot and let my creativity work for me and my audience. As a host , creator , editor all in one , it’s challenging to balance at times but time management , organizational skills and prioritizing has been my saving grace. It’s what you do when you don’t have to do it that will push you forward even by an inch. It’s consistency and of course passion that will keep you progressing and that has remained in the back of my mind when I want to stop or surrender to my fears/insecurities . I want people to know that I am committed to myself , to this brand and the message I want to convey to my audience. Im committed to authenticity and letting my passions lead me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I can’t host a show called Fly Eats and not be all about the food ! I would suggest a week-long food tour ! Breakfast/Brunch at places like Honey Uninhibited , Morgans and Rosie’s. Lunch at House of Mac ,  Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen  Vybes305 and dinner at spots like Red Rooster , Bar One Miami Beach, KYU, Victory Lounge and Swan Miami.  Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends have supported me in this journey immensely. My boyfriend has been my right hand man when I’m in my creative process , frustration and successes.Lastly, two women who have really encouraged me and inspired me in ways I could never imagine are Felecia Hatcher, founder of Center For Black Innovation and TJ Lee who is a Food Host as well and creator of Vlogger Academy which helped me so much in my YouTube Journey.
