We had the good fortune of connecting with Ktwo LeMew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ktwo, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The idea of having a *stable* or *office*-type of career never really sat well with me. When I was first going to school for my AA degree, I had a 9-5 M-F job to help pay the bills, but it was seriously eating away at my soul and creativity, not to mention my self-love. One day, I woke up and talked with a few friends, and decided to flip my life upside down. I bought a ticket to Burning Man, put in my two weeks notice, and said FUCK this *normal* lifestyle. At the time, I was gogo dancing here and there for fun, but when I got back from my trip out West, I decided to perform full-time. In between then and now, I have had random side jobs, but performing has always been my main source of happiness and income as well. It brings me so much fulfillment and satisfaction to be my truest self, and that is exactly what and who I am when I am performing on a stage.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a self-proclaimed alternative artist, and, by definition, professional performer. The road to performing on a professional level was definitely not easy. There were many speed bumps and nay-sayers along the way, but I pushed myself in ways that no other person could and found my own way in the performance community here in Tampa Bay. I also had help from a few performers who believed in me and told me to keep going when I was ready to give up. A few times, I was driven by the pure thought that I would NOT take no for an answer. Other times, I really did feel like I was a part of a bigger picture, being the artistic community here that loves to bring joy to others through burlesque, gogo, fire dancing, and other performance styles. I’ve definitely learned that it’s better to surround yourself with people who truly do believe in you, and to stay away from those who are only there to distract you from your goals and aspirations.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them down to the Riverwalk, as it is a beautiful area and showcases some of the best sights in Tampa. I would also bring them to the Dali museum, as it is one of my favorites in the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this to all of the amazing people who have helped me along in my performance career. Including my burlesque mom Mayven Missbehavin’, my burlesque zaddy Franki Markstone, my spooky source of encouragement Sheena Secra, my ride-or-die Nikole Raven, and my moms, who have been some of my biggest fans and supporters Zoe & Ella.
