We had the good fortune of connecting with Nancy DeSaram and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nancy, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
Speaking on behalf of The Cravens, three (yes, THREE) values / principles come to mind. They are entwined with each other: 1). Dedication to what we do musically as a band and as individuals, which leads to 2). Hard Work, as an ethic (which comes naturally when dedicated), and the all arching principle, 3). Honesty. Being honest with your art, with your craft…. your writing. If not honest, it will show.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a professional physical therapist by day and a rock band manager by night! Juggling both may be difficult at times…. always on the go, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The best approach when dealing with band issues concerning The Cravens is to be strong and direct to get what you want, but not to be over demanding at the same time. It is a balancing act and takes patience and a little time to get it right. But if you approach each situation professionally and with understanding, instead of force, you get farther in the long run.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Take my bestie to wherever The Cravens are playing on any given night! Hahahaha. There are actually too many venues in South Florida to count, as Miami Beach, Miami, Hollywood, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca, Delray and West Palm Beach all have a vibrant and exciting night life. Start north and head south! The News Cafe on Miami Beach is always fun for brunch. Seminole Hard Rock is great for seeing bands (The Cravens…. hint, hint). The Funky Bisquit in Boca Raton. Museums are a must: The Boca Museum of Art, The Norton Museum in West Palm Beach, The Society of Four Arts in Palm Beach. For nature, The Everglades (of course), The Loxahatchee Wildlife Refuge in Delray Beach is a nice stroll, and John Pennecamp State Park for its reefs!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Credit and dedication will go to the band members of The Cravens (listed alphabetically) : Dennis Ambrose, Ron DeSaram, Bill Meredith, Bill Storch and John Storch. They are an excellent, original rock band based in South Florida (all from the Palm Beach County area) which has been growing with success far beyond the region; on college & commercial radio, through streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music, and in the press. They are hard working, creative and a joy to manage.
