We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Saunders and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashley, what role has risk played in your life or career?
The saying “it’s better to have tried and failed, than to not have tried at all” perfectly sums what I think about risks. Outside of physical maturation, I feel, taking chances is ultimately what leads to growth and success. I owe most of my personal and professional accomplishments to having enough courage to testing my truest potential. My honest opinion is that you discover possibilities and opportunities on the other side of taking risks! It’s the reason I am where I am today!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
PositivitiTv is a platform that I created in efforts to initiate yearly missions that promote the value/benefits of love and the unification of people. In 2020 the mission was called SOULFULUNiTY (in light of social distancing), where we sold merch to raise funds to feed both the homeless and students facing financial hardship during the pandemic. What makes us unique is that we are 100% powered by people! Everything that we achieve is a result of our collaborative contributions! It gives everyone the chance to be/do for others. There is nothing that compares to the joy I get when witnessing how excited people get to be able to lend a helping hand! It’s took making a move on an idea that I originally had as just an event, to become the branded business we are today. Not having any prior knowledge or experience with non profit work was definitely a challenge in the beginning. It taught me to persevere regardless. Taking a risk regardless of circumstances can lead to reward with sacrifice, determination and faith!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When visiting Miami, Wynwood is the place to start. It’s the heart of the city; where there is something to appeal to just about everybody! Food, art, entertainment and more but most importantly its right next door to the upcoming, Overtown/Downtown area. This is where the most breathtaking scenic views of the city reside. UrbanMia’s Laugh Lounge and House of Wings are hidden gems amongst Miami’s best kept secrets. Brickell city center is too under rated as a hang out spot. Theres so many fun bars and club that sets the vibe apart from the mini sin city, South Beach!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
They say, You are only as good as those around you; and my team makes me beyond grateful and honored to be supported by such an elite group of individuals! The love and uplifting from every single volunteer and contributor leads to our overall success! From the very beginning of last year’s mission however, there is someone specifically that I want to thank and recognize for shedding light and leading the way for me. Through her own genuine knowledge and experience, she was able to coach me on the necessary steps that led me to my path of achievements! She is an award winning Artist and Author and most importantly my menor and friend, Octavia Yearwood!
