We had the good fortune of connecting with Kraig Yearwood and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kraig, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As an artists and designers, we spend most of our time planning, researching and executing projects, mostly in near solitude. Often that leads to feeling stretched,, long odd hours and at times it’s difficult to manage that work life balance. The more I want to achieve, the more stretched I seem to become but as I’ve aged, I’ve become more aware of the value of time. Now I try to stick to routines as it relates to downtime, whether that be social interaction, exercise and rest.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I love that in the creative field, you can draw inspiration and ideas from eclectic sources, I’m addicted to that sense of freedom, freedom to investigate ideas, self, cultures, materials etc. It’s not been an easy journey professionally, but not much in life comes without some form of struggle. My path has taught me to define success by my own standards, utilizing the resources around me and consistency. Fail forward as a friend often says. My passion and curiosity always leads me in fresh and exciting directions as as such I have the sense that my story is a major work in progress.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Hmmm…I live on a Caribbean island that is a mecca for tourist so there’s always plenty to do(pre COVID of course). I love sunsets and they’re usually spectacular at this time of year so we could possibly hit up one of my favorite beach bars for a couple sundowners. During the week we could do a couple of island tours to take in the sights as well as some local roadside food spots along the way. As we have some spectacular fine dining and after dinner places on island that would be my Friday night suggestion and if they were into running, we’d join up with my off road running club for a bit of exercise and amazing views. Sundays are beach days in Barbados so perhaps we could end on that note.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wish to dedicate my shoutout to my mom, who has not always understood my path but has always been of tremendous support.
