We had the good fortune of connecting with Thabo Nkhereanye and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thabo, how do you think about risk?
What a great question. For me i believe that in order to get ahead in order to truly live the life you always dreamed, there will almost always be some risk that is involved. The reason why i say that is because risk is like a seed. We have the power to plant the seed and we have the power to water the seed but we dont determine all the details of the seeds growth. Now with that being said we still do everything in our power to create the right environment for the highest yielding crop. But if we never take risk we never give the seed the ability to grow and mabye just mabye be the biggest tree this world has seen. For me early on in my music career and journey i played it safe and it wasn’t until i saw people less talented then me getting farther then me that i realized they have something i dont have. that was a true belief in their abilities that they possessed. Right then and there i learned that in order to truly move forward you have to have a real belief in the God given talent and dream inside of you and take it and run with it, invest in it, believe in it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My artist name is Thabo Courtney. I started doing music and dancing from around 5 years old. Music always played apart in my upbringing from Tap dancing in Manhattan school of arts to traveling, singing performing throughout Florida. When it comes to music i try to captivate the listener with new melodies and songs that speak not just to the trends but the actual heart mind and spirit of each listener. Recently my biggest achievement was releasing my new single “April 23”. This song captures the beauty and essence of falling in love with yourself again which i believe many of us need to enjoy doing again. The song echoes the lyrics of a person singing to their partner but when the video is released listeners will see the song is actually about me singing encouraging myself. One of the biggest things i think i want people to realize is that we weren’t put in this world to suffer. we cant always control what happens around us but i would hope that people would start to live a life of joy and that that joy would come from a place internally where despite what is going on around them they would find peace , happiness and joy inside that would radiate to everywhere they step foot.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
where is the life of the party? Lets see first i would take them to do a little shopping in Aventura mall, splurge a bit. Next we would take a trip to the W hotel get settled situated. Next day i definitely take them to wynwood to enjoy the art scene. The next day we would get our sunscreen on and take a ride out to south beach enjoy the scenery excitement and music. Then to top everything off take a trip to the vizcaya museum and gardens.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes so shout out! I would like to shout out my mother Felleng Nkhereanye! why you say because she taught me what it means to be committed to a cause. in 2015 she started taking care of the orphaned children in Lesotho and since she started she has been able to provide for around 200 children so far. She is truly my inspiration.
