Meet Angel Rodriguez | Independent Artist, Aluis

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angel Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angel, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I am from Santiago de Los Caballeros is a town the Dominican Republic. Is an island in the Caribbean right next to Haiti. When i first got to the states i came here as an immigrant and had to work for everything that i have now. I feel like impacted me heavily, just because its taught me how to hustle and work hard. Most importantly how to work my way out of tough times. I’m thankful for that upbringing.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from others is my work ethic. I am not a man who is held back by any barriers. I always been the type to work my way around problems. Whether thats in my career or my life i always had that mindset and it has taken me very far in this life journey. What i am most proud of is building my brand. A brand that brings me joy and that potentially it will be a foundation of hope for a lot of people. In the most humble manner i always been the one dude who brings people hope because i always been the guy with the least skill when it comes to pursuing his passion but i always been the ones who’s journey inspires others. The world should know i am coming and like J. Cole said “I’m coming for everything you take for granted.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This one is a good question but tough for me. I am the most simplistic guy one might meet. I could literally sit by the pool side and just talk life with all my friends but, if i were to take my friends around town i would take them GoKart racing. Is actually one one my favorite things to do around town. And then we would go out for some pizza at Anthony’s Coal Fired pizza. Is one of the best in Broward and quite inexpensive for how it good it is. For drinks? i don’t drink but i would go to Rhythm & Vine for more of a social setting.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my closest mentors for sure. One being my mom very grateful for her and for what she’s done for me and my siblings. Ill forever be in debt with her for making me the man i am today. Secondly, i thank my pastor. He has been there at my worst and has been there at my absolute best. I love his heart for Jesus and his values and morals that more times than none i apply to my own life.
