We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Goodrich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jason, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business was formulated over several years of continuing education and practical application through general participation and activity. Simply put, I took everything I’ve learned and adapted it to my training style and technique. I also used my years of training in several different disciplines and class structures to extract what I liked, and begin to mentally assemble The most desirable aspects (for me) of each, and combine them into what I now call The Inferno!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Athletic Compound, located in South Miami is a unique gym experience I developed that combines ALL aspects of fitness with a focus on Olympic lifting, gymnastics, and high intensity cardio. The class, called the inferno, includes Red Light Therapy (Infrared) and heart rate monitors to further enhance calorie and fat burning. I’ve used my background in Exercise Physiology and bio mechanics to formulate a class, unlike any other exercise experience based on science and personal application.
The Athletic Compound and development of The Inferno was years in the making in order to not compromise my vision. It took perseverance, support, and years of experience as a personal training director and operations manager to use all the successful strategies of the program and apply them to my own. I definitely would not say it was easy but I learned that success is not about the individual but about the people around you and the energy they give you. You must surround yourself with successful people and they will lift you up. I have some of the best people in the world behind me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start by dinner at Prime 112 to load up on protein in preparation for a week of training at The Athletic Compound. You will also meet the members that I consider family. We would go to a InterMiami Soccer and Miami Heat game. Throughout the week we would also hang out in South Beach and enjoy a nice Brunch.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are just so many people that played a part in this journey. My true friends, family, and clients who are now family. Two that stand out are Jose Mas (Mas Tec) and Steve Marin(Marin and Sons)They always pushed me to open my own space, and never let me forget how talented they both thought I was. They are always calling me with valuable nuggets of information or suggestions, that as a new business owner, is invaluable. As big time Miami movers and shakers, I’m blessed that they both would take time (that they usually don’t have) to reach out constantly to help mentor and guide me during this new endeavor!
