Hi Luis Alejandro Márquez ”Vomba”, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
What was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I decided to create my own brand ”Vomba” when I discovered that my work with photography was being appreciated and people I didn’t know wanted to work with me. From that point I understood I could create a business out of what started as a hobby. People knew me as ”Bomba”, for which it made sense to name my personal brand that way. I changed the first letter and that was the beginning of ”Vomba”

Risk taking: how do you think about risk, what role has taking risks played in your life/career?

Risk is a part of living. Everything I life involves taking risks, riding a bike has the risk of falling down or taking you somewhere. Risks have always been part of my life. I consider my job my life, therefore I am always taking risks. These help me grow, learn and understand what is best for me according to my decisions.

Where are you from and how did your background and upbringing impact who you are today?

I am from Caracas, Venezuela. My country is very important for me and every time I get to know the world a little more I feel thankful of my roots, culture, family and education. I feel committed to contributing a piece of my culture to the world because everything I learned in Venezuela has made me who I am today.

What is the most important factor behind your success / the success of your brand?

Being authentic is the most important factor behind my success. Showing honesty, confidence and trying things that fulfill me and make me happy have been vital for my growth as a professional.

What value or principle matters most to you? Why?

Love. Love for me is the energy that guides humans. When you do something with love, you do them right, happily and willingly. Having love with passion and inspiration is the most important thing in life.

Work life balance: how has your balance changed over time? How do you think about the balance?

Balance is the only way to stay present. With time I have learned that sometimes we live more in the future and its uncertainty or in the past and what already happened. I try to maintain a balance with all the things that matter to me to achieve a harmonious equilibrium between my job, home, family, friends and most importantly, myself.

What’s the end goal? Where do you want to be professionally by the end of your career?

Feeling fulfilled. Feeling that I achieved everything I had ever imagined, that I learned through the process and that I enjoyed it. Knowing I contributed positive things to everyone that appreciated my art and those who knew me and were involved in the process.

Why did you pursue an artistic or creative career?

I decided to pursue a creative career because it is where I felt like I fit in. I express myself through art and doing this has become the place where I can experiment with the things I think and dream of.

Tell us about a book you’ve read and why you like it / what impact it had on you.

”The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Deepak Choprah. This book explains success in a spiritual manner. It has positively impacted my life because it defined emotions and thoughts I had felt but never understood. The book is very beautiful and makes you understand that success starts from within and throughout time can turn into whatever we wish for in life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I believe that things that are done with love make me feel better and connect with people. It has been a learning process, sometimes things don’t turn out as I originally plan but that is part of improving, growing and changing. The message I would like to give to the world is to be thankful, to believe in yourself and the most important thing is that the biggest recognition one can have is to feel peaceful and authentic with yourself.
