We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrea Ciatti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrea, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I couldn’t help it. It doesn’t matter how many times I’ve tried other avenues I always come back to an artistic career. It is like a calling, Sometimes when I’m irrationally sad or sensitive I say “thats it, I’m a living drama because I haven’t made any art”. I find art to be such a great way to inspire others, whether it is through your message or through aesthetics. I feel our souls need to be fed too and art is the 3 Michelin stars for the soul! In that case I can’t imagine myself doing anything else but creating and sharing beauty in this world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always experimented in the artistic world, from theatre acting, film production, costume design to graduating in Spain for accessory design. Each one of those paths have informed how I approach my work as an artist. It hasn’t really been easy I would say. I had to loose who I was and in the becoming of who I am is when I found painting.

I was terrified to show my work to others before, imagine an artist that doesn’t show its work to others. I was afraid of others opinion and that fear used to paralyzed me. It wasn’t until the pandemic that I decided to change that. I started lookin for galleries and exhibitions and signing in to anything I could. All of the sudden my message was bigger than my fear.

I realized that too many woman felt afraid or ashamed of showing how they felt, their fears, tears and pride is usually something mocked upon; so I want to make sure that through art I can celebrate all of our colors and emotions. That why I paint, to inspire girls to be true to how they feel and woman to celebrate who they’ve become.

I paint with hair combs, I love exploring the limits of a tool that wasn’t created for painting. Those limits are challenges that make a successful painting worth it. Sometime when painting murals or artwork for clients like restaurants or commercial spaces I have to think what is the best lenguaje for the project but if I find a way to use hair combs I probably will.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If one of my artist friends asked me to show them a great time I will probably take them to the museum… I know it doesn’t sound exciting but when you are an artist it’s a lot of fun, I swear, try going to the museum with an artist you’ll have a blast. I will also walk them through Wynwood and discuss all of the murals and take them to cultural places so they can get a sense of the Miami community. For artists experiencing culture and arts is the best gift I could do for them. Although I have to say we will probably end up at the beach with canvases and a beer!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve had to learn to play many roles during my career. Artists now a days have to know sales, social media, programming, distribution and much more, but honestly I wouldn’t be able to make as much as I do without my family’s support. They stay late nights cutting flyers, they sweat carrying paintings, they hug me when I’ve failed. They’re the best team I could’ve ever asked for.
