We had the good fortune of connecting with Simonett Pereira and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Simonett, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Starting something that doesn’t already exist and have a proof of concept is always going to be a risk. My ability to trust my vision and intuition definitely helped me cultivate what I’ve built.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my professional journey at a very young age. Starting a business at 21 with no real-world experience or relationships in the industry was definitely a challenge. I definitely made a ton of mistakes that definitely cost me but I’m proud of everything I have accomplished along the way in spite of those circumstances. Every day is an opportunity for growth and I’ve only been able to overcome the challenges through a lot personal work and introspection. I never knew how much being an entrepreneur could fortify you as an individual and I now think that’s one of my favorite parts about taking this life route. Biggest lessons learned: trust yourself always, adapt to change and get a good accountant.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First stop – my favorite restaurant in Miami: Boia De. Then a trip to Nina Johnson’s gallery in the neighborhood. Simonett for shopping (obvi) and drinks at Margot. Next day we hit the beach for a sunrise dip followed by massages with Alexandra at the Standard and spend the day by the pool sealed with a beverage at their new Monterrey bar. For dinner we head to another Miami gem: Jaguar Sun. I never let anyone visiting Miami leave without a trip to Doggi’s for Venezuelan street food so we stop there for breakfast the next day. We then take in the day at Calle Ocho and have late lunch at Lung Yai followed by a tour of the ICA in Design District and end at Sobremesa for their weekly wine tasting. On the last day we do lunch at Paradis BB, get pampered at Sana Skin Studio and close off with dinner at La Natural.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother is probably the most influential person in my journey. Her unwavering optimism, belief in my potential and entrepreneurial mentorship is what propelled me to get a head start on founding my business.
