Hi LaTisha, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?

“Keep your opinions to yourself and try not to ruffle any feathers” was one piece of conventional advice I would hear far too many times. On the contrary, I believe conflict is far more important than we think. Let me explain. Sometimes, sparking and engaging in debates and constructive discussions can improve processes, policies and procedures. These hard discussions can even improve one’s potential.

Can you imagine going through the motions just to avoid collision?

Life would be a universe full of robots, accepting the status quo!

In my opinion, the greatest potential comes from candid expressions, without oppression from the ones around you. Once an individual begins to dispute the “we’ve always done it that way” mentality, magic is created, ideas begin to bloom and individuals begin to thrive.

However, as we challenge one another, respect is imperative.

My name is LaTisha Otto, owner and chandler of Starwick Candle Company. I am also a wife, mother, and Registered Nurse.

Starwick Candle Company was established February 2021 during one of the greatest pandemics the world has seen. Although my world was on the verge of chaos, Covid 19 fast tracked it all, and my depression returned. In a battle to overcome depression, I was determined to find my zen. A place where the extremes of life ceased to exist and one was untouchable, this was discovered through the scent of candles.

The sense of smell has the strongest influence on the brain and It’s soothing effects decrease anxiety, promote relaxation, and stimulate memories. After many candle purchases, I soon found it cost effective to create my own. Unfortunately, As asserted by Dr. Ruhuallah candles made using paraffin wax are suspected to give off toxic chemicals, like toluene and benzene [1]. Cancer causing agents. This meant my favorite candle brands were far too harmful to burn. From that day forward, I decided to introduce not only my secret to a Zen place but a healthier alternative.

Starwick candles are handcrafted in small batches to ensure the utmost quality and performance. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

If I were to show my best friend a good time In Miami, Fl, our first stop would be the Nixon Beach Sandbar and spend a day long on the yacht enjoying the ocean side. After a few Mojitos and margaritas, dinner at The Deck at Island Gardens and off to enjoy the Miami Nightlife.

The next day, Sightseeing via helicopter with Magic Air Tours embracing the Miami Skyline and grab lunch at Dogma Grill. After lunch, rent a few Slingshots to tour the streets of Miami only to finish the night with a little dancing and karaoke.

After days of excitement, take it easy at the Miami Selfie museum, a few drinks and a night enjoying the art of Wynwood walls.

Throughout the rest of the week, seamless events like Palapa, Sip and paint, and the Comedy festival. Enjoy dinner at places like the Versace Mansion, Red Rooster and Cote Miami. Just to end the week with some ocean meditation and shopping at a few farmer markets.
