We had the good fortune of connecting with Maiya Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Maiya, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my willingness to give up everything even if it’s for a dream that only I could see. When no one supported me, helped me, and believed in me, I was going to keep going regardless. I was willing to go without money, struggle, starve, and without sleep just to make sure I took the steps needed to achieve my goals. That’s how bad I wanted to succeed. Not only did I remember why I started but, always keeping my end goal at the forefront of my mind in my lowest moments. That’s what kept me going that’s why I didn’t stop.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I do everything from sewing clothes, screen printing, hand stitching, bedazzling, taking clothes in, upcycling, sketching designs, and creative directing for my brand. I am known for being creative and the versatility of clothing ranges. I am excited to see where my talents will take me this is only the beginning (year 2). However, The road was far from easy, I had to juggle college in the day, working full-time overnight, maintaining a business, and actually teaching myself how to create. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I was determined to learn.

I want the world to know that nothing came easy for me, I scarified a lot to be in the position that I am in. My brand is a reflection of that resilience and confident to be your authentic self.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Hollywood beach on a nice sunny day to get vanilla ice cream and to my fav pizza spot Roccos pizza.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s a few things that kept me going on my quest to success. First, I would like to shoutout my grandma Wanda may her soul Rest In Peace. She always encouraged me and always been my biggest cheerleader from the beginning till the end. I’ll Never forget the way she lights up when I show her my designs. Next, I would like to thank my followers on my social medias they have supported me so much and gave me the opportunity to build my brands platform. From the likes, to the shares, to the supportive comments, thanks for sticking with me nothing goes unnoticed I appreciate everything. Next, I would like to thank other creators. I’ve learned so much just by being able to look up a video, thank you creators for giving me the necessary tools to create. Lastly, The biggest shoutout of them all God whom brought me out of places I never thought I’ll make it out of. Thankful for grace and being here to share my story. Finally, shoutout to shoutout, it’s very motivating knowing that people see you, Thanks for seeing me and featuring me.
