We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Victor, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
In the beginning, it is a hard process, you are giving the best of yourself for your business, working tirelessly 24/7, sacrificing rest and moments with the people who love you and surround you, but knowing that it is the sacrifice to be able to materialize your vision, your project, your dreams. Many times you feel bad, alone, and that you are missing many things, that is when it is very important to know how to cross a line and achieve balance in your life, the idea of the process of starting your business is; In addition to learning and building your vision, it is not abandoning yourself along the way.

I realized over time that refusing to go out with my friends on a Friday night or spend a quiet day at the beach was not going to take me away from my goals or my responsibilities, that I was being very hard on myself, in fact, the results improved and I felt better about myself, a balanced life is a fundamental key for every entrepreneur.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
At Vonna Vegan we are dedicated to the manufacture of vegan empanadas, we want to be that tool that helps people incorporate a healthier lifestyle and we achieve this through delicious empanadas with our own recipes. We want to change the idea that eating healthy is boring or how many people think “tasteless food” which makes us proud to have achieved this result, people love our empanadas.

Getting to the point where we are today was undoubtedly a long road, but very satisfying, this being my first culinary business, there were many areas in which I had to focus my attention since they were new to me, from recipe books, such as the use of the equipment and always seek the optimization of all processes. Having a great work team was key throughout the process. There were many lessons learned along the way, being organized and disciplined gives long-term benefits, thanks to this we managed to be efficient and consistent in what we were doing.

I would love that people to recognize us for the objective of positioning ourselves in the market as a brand that provides the highest quality in each of its products, being in every home and being a reliable source for a healthy lifestyle, nothing would fill us with more pride.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami is an incredible city, as soon as you arrive, no matter what, visit Wynwood at night if it’s Friday, go from bar to bar to enjoy various environments, The Tiki Garden or Dirty rabbit must surely be visited, Saturday morning have breakfast at Pura Vida to recover and go to the beach immediately Miami Beach and 54th Street or Key Biscayne until nightfall, Sunday would be excellent a walk through the Wynwood Walls and a relaxed day, that would be for good me.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without a doubt, first of all, thanks to God and my family for always being there for me in all the moments of uncertainty and also in the successes. For all those words of encouragement that they have given me on those days when you feel that things are not going well and that you lose your way, they have always known how to be there for me and I will thank them all my life. I am who I am today thanks to them. Mom, Dad, and my brothers, I love you!!
