We had the good fortune of connecting with Victoria Figueroa and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victoria, what do you attribute your success to?
My brand’s message is to feel good no matter what. To love yourself as whatever shape, color, size, weight, or height you are! I started out my blog, @fashionably_victorious, as a hobby, a passion for fashion. However, I realized how many women said I’ve helped them, especially when it comes to creating outfits! My Instagram blog is now a guide to numerous women on how to put together outfits, in order to feel like their best self! I am currently attending Savannah College of Art and Design for fashion design, and hope to start my own label in the future. I want my future brand to help men and women bring out their inner confidence. Because everybody is a work of art…
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Since I was a little girl, I always had a fascination for designing gowns and statement pieces with my Crayola crayons. It was later in my mature years, that I fell in love with the feeling of numerous fabrics and designing with watercolors. Watching television and movie fashion icons with my family, made me realize that they all had one thing in common: they revealed their personalities through their fashion choices. Seeing them surround themselves with luxurious styles made me want to relive that fantasy! In my senior year of high school, working on costumes for theater and applying to numerous schools for instance, SCAD, and FIT was very challenging and time consuming! Creating collections and gathering inspiration to submit, all while working an Instagram blog was very demanding, however, I’ve gotten used to the workload, especially now that I’m attending Savannah College of Art and Design. I’ve had so many opportunities, from going to fashion exhibits to even meeting famous fashion designer Christian Siriano! I can’t wait to apply them to my future fashion label. Additionally, whatever I learn, I enjoy adding it to my Instagram blog; whether it was a photoshoot or even sewing a dress, I enjoy taking people with me, through the process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being from Miami and attending school in Savannah, I have tons of places I’d love to take them! If they come to Savannah, I’d show my friend my favorite aspects of my school, for instance, our gorgeous fashion building and Art Museum! After giving them a tour, we try out the best coffee shops, like Foxy Loxy or Parisian Market while doing a little shopping. Lastly, driving around Savannah’s beautiful homes and grabbing a delicious bite at Public Kitchen and Bar! However, if they were to come to Miami, I’d show them a fun time! From trying out the hottest restaurants like Chica, to even the cutest places like Little Hen! Of course, I would take them to our beaches as well! When heading to downtown Miami, we’d stop by the Perez Art Museum and The Frost Museum for some cool art installations and exhibits. We would also take some cool photos at the Miami Design District, while walking around. Also, bike riding along Deering Estate is the best way to start off a morning!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom has been so supportive throughout this process! In a way, she’s almost like my manager. She takes my photos, and we have the same tastes, so we love to share inspiration with each other. I’m so grateful to her and my family for encouraging me these past couple of years. Another shoutout is a fellow Miami blogger that I really admire, @caroldemauro. She has the most beautiful photos and is so interactive with her many followers, as well as the same elegant tastes in clothing. When starting out, I really looked at her work for inspiration and how she grew to become so successful!
