We had the good fortune of connecting with Sid Stratton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sid, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The thought process behind starting my own business with my wife, was that we wanted to combine our passion for live hard rock and heavy metal music with the art of burlesque. By mixing the best of both our worlds, we saw an opportunity to elevate our crafts while bringing something truly special and unique that crosses over into both of our fanbases.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what helps set our art apart from others is our eagerness to take risks and a mindset to innovate, not imitate. I’ve never looked at another artist and wondered “how can I be like that?”, but instead “how can I learn from them and be more?”. Whether it’s from other’s successes or failures, both have value in them.
What I’m most proud and excited about is, learning from my past failures in the entertainment industry, and instead of giving up, I pushed forward with rebranding and launching a new vision with success. In most cases, rebranding after a 10-year career can be considered a kiss-of-death in the music business, but over the last two years I’ve made some of the greatest memories of my life with some amazingly talented performers.
While nowhere near easy, this career has taught me to be resilient and to value my work no matter what others say. As cliche as it may sound, you can’t let others who can’t see your vison deter you from accomplishing your goals. By surrounding yourself with those who make you better at your craft, you can accomplish anything.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Due to how busy our work keeps us; all of our best friends work with us to put on these performances. Therefore, the best places we could say to hang out are at whichever venue we’re putting a show on next.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In addition to the unwavering support and encouragement from my family, the biggest shoutout would without a doubt be to my wife, Lashes Lane. There’s no doubt in my mind that I wouldn’t be where I am right now without her.
