We had the good fortune of connecting with Juliana Saraza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Juliana, how do you think about risk?
I think no risk, no success. Taking risks helps me build my confidence and open up new possibilities, I give myself permission to try new things out, to learn, to fail, to grow and to explore. I get to test my limits and go beyond of what I believed was possible and I can go after the things in life I really want. Taking a risk to achieve my new goals requires courage to face the fear of uncertainty, but no matter what the outcome is, either way, I grow through the process and become more resilient and confident. Better yet, by building those skills it helps me in taking more risks that improves the chances of achieving future goals.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Having a fashion swimwear brand means I have a name in the industry represented by my own special styles and designs. I would say the most challenging part of the swimwear industry is that no matter how great my products are, it’s a crowded marketplace, and it’s growing all the time so, I am always thinking what makes my products special and different? What makes my brand unique? Why would someone choose Notorious Swimwear over my competitors? So, I need to be confident about what I am bringing to the table and always be innovative with my designs. Having the right strategy, and being able to adapt to the new reality will define my success. It is not easy to start a business and I think the right people are worth everything, It’s almost impossible to build a successful business by yourself. Even if i am a solo entrepreneur, I have mentors, vendors and peers alongside me helping me achieve my long-term vision. So, I recognize how valuable other people will open you up to more opportunities, help me keep an eye out for new contacts no matter where I am and make me more discerning in decisions.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give the credit to my mother and mentor, she is a very strong, independent woman who was quiet and kind. She was a working mother who very skillfully juggled career, family and other responsibilities. I never once heard her complain or breakdown despite having three children and a full schedule. This is truly remarkable in a time when we spend so much time talking about work-life balance and the inability to cope with multiple responsibilities. One of my mother’s strengths is resilience in the face of adversity. Despite tough challenges in life, she never gave up. I gratefully dedicate my success to my mother.
