Meet Willis Brown | Seagreen Founder, Surfer and Skier

We had the good fortune of connecting with Willis Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Willis, how do you think about risk?
I think about risk in a sense of my current standing in any particular situation. It’s about assessing the risk vs reward. One of two things can happen, I either don’t take the risk and there’s a likelihood that nothing changes and everything remains the same or I take the risk, accomplish what I was either nervous or afraid of, and experience the growth and satisfaction from believing in myself or my team. Risks have played a huge role in my life everywhere from decisions as an athlete in multiple sports growing up to the adventures eventually leading to Seagreen. Setting sail and spending months on the ocean learning to sail was a huge risk for me. However, taking the plunge and allowing myself to try something new resulted in new found skills, passions and personal growth. By the end of the voyage, after surviving off of kelp during a hurricane, Seagreen was evolving in my head. The next big risk I would take was making it something real, something tangible. Again, after very little thought, I decided to take the plunge because I believe in what Seagreen represents and what it does for us and the planet. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Seagreen is the first ever kelp-based functional beverage providing numerous health benefits, sustainable energy and positive environmental impact. I’m proud of how we came to life: from survival on an Atlantic sailing journey to a product that enhances everyday living and enables everyone to play a part in saving our planet’s future.

Getting to where we are today is a testament to our team and commitment to our vision. It’s not easy, nothing worthwhile ever is, but as we learn, improve and evolve everyday. Before we had product and amazing customers, there were many lonely days and nights trying to figure it all out. It’s kind of like a personal growth session everyday when you are coaching yourself through an array of emotions and there’s no one around to lean on.

I want the world to know that Seagreen aims to improve human health, connect you with nature everyday and make a positive impact on our planet on your behalf.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family first and foremost. My parents and my brother are so rad and are always there to bounce ideas off of, spread the word and just remind me that I can do this when I’m doubting myself.

My friends and all of Seagreen’s early adopters help make this whole mission a reality!
