Meet Krisiz Jay | Songwriter & Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Krisiz Jay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Krisiz, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I think at the current level I am I’ve found a healthy balance between work and relaxation. Some days it can and will get crazy depending on the project I’m working on but I always have a stopping point. I do my best to absolutely not overdue it on either side. It is true what they say too much of a good thing is bad for you.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What truly sets me apart from others is my ability to work through anything. I work hard to get to where I am and where I am going. Perseverance. That’s what sets me apart. Doesn’t matter what happens I keep moving forward head held high and proceed with the tasks at hand. I got to where I am by actually researching on my own about the business, and truly just keeping a positive attitude about this journey. Tough days never last and good times don’t either you have to take it all in as it comes. Some of the lessons I have learned along the way are always be ready no matter the circumstance. You have to be ready at all times. So when opportunities are presented you are fully equipped to make it work. I want the world to know that I’m no different than you. Anyone can do what I do say what I say perform in front of people but the difference is can they take the ridicule? My brand is about being you and not caring who says what. People will drag you down if you let them. But the key is to not let them.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In the city of Memphis there are a lot of places to check out. A lot of places. First stop would be Beale street. The most legendary street in the city where it all goes down. Second while on Beale we gotta get to Wet Willies for a good drank. It’s a must. Then we have to visit the civil rights museum. A very historic place in our city and definitely worth the trip. We also have to go to insomnia cookies. Mane that place is definitely off the chain. Getting cookies in the middle of the night?! Oh yeah nothing but goodness at 12am. Nightlife we have club Love to visit Privè stuff like that. Also Panta of Memphis. For art we can visit the new Van Goh exhibit. The pink palace museum. Of course everyone wants to see Elvis Presley’s house. Also we can head to Crosstown. Plenty of places to choose from.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are a lot of people I would give credit for. First and foremost I would like to give God the first shout out because without him this wouldn’t be possible. None of what I do. My second would be my family. Although it is a scary venture doing this music business and warding off potential threats to me and what I stand for without them I couldn’t do this. Third would be my team SoulCityEnt. From the mixing at uproar recordings, to the artists on the label Aspire, Met Montrel, DJTwoTymes, DJ4ft, and so on without the love and support it wouldn’t be a me. And lastly shout out to every one of my supporters. They truly have taken me to a new level. And they will forever have my thanks and love.
