We had the good fortune of connecting with Diogo Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diogo, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
In my opinion, when you start something that you truly believe, you’re not going give up. Instead, will recalculate when something it’s not right along the way, and keep going. Always keep going.
Life it’s full of surprises, and I believe what you’re seeking, its seeking you.
So I’ll never give up!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being a full time working musician it’s not a easy task to achieve. You have to keep a positive mind all the time and most importantly really believe that you’re going to make it. Nowadays get to work daly for a latin TV show series as the house bass player at “Enamorandonos”. A show that is transmitted all over the US, Puerto Rico and Mexico.

About 4 years ago I got a call to this audition and I told my self, this is going to be my new job! A week later they called me for the casting! I guess its a combination, of having a good attitude, been able to play many different genres of music and speaking 3 languages also helps. Oh, and a nice original look, also makes the difference.

Basically a few years  ago I was doing a very busy doing lots of studio work. And one day I gotta a call from  the Crescent Moon studios to do a session. They asked me: hey Diogo are you available  for a recording session tomorrow? And I said:  Sorry but I’m not.  And they asked me ok, how about the day after tomorrow? And I was like yes I can do it. But on the end I had no idea what was. Turns out it was for the recording of Brazil 305 with Gloria and Emilio Estefan, which 2 years later would be the Latin Grammy winner best Tropical album that I had no idea I was gonna record on it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Besides being an artist, I’m also a beer enthusiast. In fact I’m studying to become a beer cicerone, or a sommelier of beer. So theres so many amazing craft breweries in Miami. I would start at the Wynwood area. Staring of at Kush for a super nice burger and great beer, then would pass by the amazing J Wakefield Brewing for a beer tasting. Then theres is La tropical where theres always good live music going on and to close out the night, I would take my friend to The Corner, very chill atmosphere, where you can find great drinks, food, and jazz,

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m so blessed to be able to live my dream exactly as I visualized. Since I was about 14 or 15, I always dreamed about being a successful musician, where I could work for many international artists, touring around the world, getting some recognition and well making a decent living out of a my musical career. On these 20+ years, I’ve been able to work for artist such as Gloria Estefan, Julio Iglesias Jr, Nouvelle Vague, Buika, John Secada, Laura Pausini and as well I recently started my own big band project ‘ Gafieira Rio Miami”.

But non of that would be possible to come to reality if wasn’t for my mom. She was the one who really took it seriously when I choose to be a professional musician. She was a little scared on the beginning but soon realize that was it for me, and so she put me on the conservatory of music villa lobos, in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, where I’m from, as well she put me on english school. Not to mention she is my everything! So my shoutout goes to you mom!
