We had the good fortune of connecting with Kaitlynn Heck and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kaitlynn, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
out of all the questions , this one stuck out to me the most. i’ve been natural myself for about 6 1/2 years but my beginning process was literally the most stressful. I struggled with finding the right products that worked for me not only that I also found myself spending hundreds of dollars per month on products that says work for my hair type and ended up never working at all for me. throughout the years of actually finding what does work for me overtime the ingredients in the products ended up changing my hair texture and no longer was suitable for what I needed it for. unfortunately in the natural hair community a lot of young women and little girls aren’t educated on their hair type and a lot of women and girls struggle with maintaining their natural hair including myself. One day I woke up and said something have to give there has to be another way to maintain natural hair without using harsh chemicals, then a lightbulb clicked in my head and I started researching every day ingredients that’s good for natural hair no matter the texture. I used my own natural handmade products on my hair for wash days and just to keep it maintained and received compliment after compliment on a daily basis not only that but I was also started applying my products in the hair of my clients. after tons of feedback from family and friends about how my products are working for them and how they are now managing their natural hair. that alone for me was one of the biggest accomplishments with starting my business because not only are all my ingredients completely natural but not only do they work but it’s also affordable.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The correct term to describe me would be naturalist. my profession is all things natural from the hair follicles on the top of your head to the Hair on your face. my job is to educate my community on how to manage natural hair, know what products to use for your hair and what styles would work best for your hair type. I am self taught I’ve been learning about natural hair for 6 1/2 years and I am still continuing to learn every day about the ins and outs of maintaining natural hair. The hair industry alone is very huge so there is so much to know but as long as you stick to the main root which is catering to all hair types you would never go wrong in the naturalist business. This entire process was not easy for me considering everything you see about Kkraze Naturalz Products LLC is that everything was done solely by me and my vision of creating a brand that is suitable for men, women and children. before my grandfather Passed away he was the first African-American in Pompano Beach Florida to own his first Postal Service. every chance my father Gets he reminds me of how much I remind him of his dad, my drive to become successful and ambition I have he sees my grandfather in me every time I talk about my business because of the amount of passion I have for this. my vision alone of being successful is what keeps me going every single day no matter what challenges come my way I always turn to my business for an escape from the outside world. The beauty in Kkraze Naturalz Products LLC is that every single product is handmade with all natural oils & supplements combined together to enhance all hair goals. There are options for custom created products for those that suffer from hair loss or Alopecia. With a consistent routine and the consistent use of my products you are guaranteed to see positive changes within a couple of months.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
OK so my friend comes down for a week she is guaranteed to have a great South Florida time. As soon as she lands I’ll make sure to pick her up and show her around downtown Fort Lauderdale for day one. After a long flight I know she’ll be tired so the perfect place to take her is The Hub. It’s such a vibe and the drinks are so good also the music set off a subtle night. The next day I’ll make sure she visits all of the local museums and I am a foodie so when it comes to the food she will be beyond happy of the choices we have down here. From Wynwood to West Palm down to the food trucks and Exquisite restaurants if she’s anything like me she would be overly joyed with the food options. I’ll also enrolled us into some pottery classes along with air boating in the Everglades to paddle boarding in the ocean. It’s so many fun things to do in South Florida that don’t require tons of money which is my kind of activities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to take the time to give a shout out to all the beautiful young girls and young women in our community that’s breaking generational curses and setting a way for themselves and their family. I know every day is a struggle to stay strong and be the woman that you’ve always been destined to be but don’t give up continue with the drive and motivation that you know that’s in you and never give up no matter what.
