We had the good fortune of connecting with Emerson Day and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emerson, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always been interested in art and exploration. After years honing my skills as a photography and field logistic manager, I never really found a position that checked the boxes I was looking for in a work/life relationship. I have always been someone to dream big and chase large objectives, starting my own business was no different. After beginning that process, working for someone else never seemed that appealing. I try to keep my methods simple and execution flexible: Start with the end in mind, work backwards laying out all the necessary steps to get there, begin the journey, and roll with the punches till arrival. Then do it all over again.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My passion for photography, adventure, and self discovery has taken me across six continents and taught me to see and engage with the world in a new light. My approach is narrative-driven, with a strong focus on reintroducing the concepts of intrinsic value and bringing joy to the masses. I see myself as a leader, a team player, and am most at peace when pursuing my passions in the field.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Miami has an endless number of amazing offerings, but what first brought me here was the ocean. I have lived aboard a sailboat for the past five years now, two of which I was a masters student at the U studying exploration science. Getting out on the water freediving, fishing, or just taking in the beauty of Biscayne Bay and Miami skyline is first on my list. After a long day on the water I love a full plate of pulled pork, maduros, and black beans and rice from Oasis Sandwich, always hit the spot for me. Miami is full of exciting people and you never know who you might run into having lunch in front of Fresh Market in the grove or on a night on the town. It’s definitely worth talking and making friends, you never know where it will take you.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my two moms, Jacquie and Carol. They showed me at a young age that passion, discipline, and a fierce understanding of self is all you need to start any journey and keep you smiling.
