We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Manuel Santovena and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jose Manuel, how do you think about risk?
For some people taking risks is an option, for me, has been often the only way to go and evolve. I come from a very humble family from Venezuela and when your situation can’t be worse, taking risks only will help you change that for something better. I am a risk taker!

What should our readers know about your business?
becoming a realtor wasn’t in my cards when I graduated from the Central University of Venezuela. Back then, all I knew was that my effective communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to connect with people would work well in a sales environment.

For 15 years, I thought that this was my calling and I kept on doing what I did best―make customers happy and contribute to the bottom line.

However, when I moved to Florida, the real estate bug bit me. I realized that my sales strategies, enthusiasm, and eagerness to help others could easily transfer into this field. So I decided to take a leap of faith and switch career.

In 2016, I received the ‘KW Miami Rising Star 2016’ award, a year after I joined Keller Williams International Realty. A year later, I secured a spot in the Top Producers Wall and became one of the youngest agents to make it four years in a row.

In 2020, I joined one of the leading real estate teams in the city, the MCI Team led by the Mega Agent Lucas Lechuga under the umbrella of Luxe Living Realty by Dora Puig. By 2021 I was already the #1 Top Producer in my team and I am so proud about it, it is a big honor and responsibility!

One of the secrets to get far in business is to listen to your clients! I make an effort to introduce real estate strategies that align with their interests. I also keep an eye on emerging real estate marketing trends, providing them with practical and valuable advice. That’s why clients count on me to take them through the real estate process with ease.

My dedication to this line of work and devotion to my clients makes it easier for me to build long-lasting relationships with everyone I meet. That’s probably why the majority of my sales come from referrals and recurring clients.

I want to tell to everyone dreaming about making a difference that I am where I am today not by coincidence, this is the result of dedication, resilience and perseverance.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Miami is unlike any other place in the world, as it is both an important business destination and a perennial spring break (and year-round vacation) favorite. With the beach and the city at your fingertips, it’s easy to get lost in the seemingly endless choices.

I would start with breakfast at the Betsy in South Beach, they have the best Eggs Benedict!
For lunch, I love going to Brickell, where you find every kind of restaurants within two blocks from each other. Brickell also have many trendy places for Happy Hour and one of my favorites is Rosa Sky.

For a memorable dinner I would suggest Sexy Fish, amazing food, gorgeous style and they normally have live music with dancing performances!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have had many mentors throughout my life, my Mom was my first role model of hard work and dedication and also my biggest motivation to become a better person and professional. Currently, I have the honor to work with two of the best professionals in the industry, Dora Puig my Broker and Lucas Lechuga my Team Leader, that has made a big positive impact in my career.

Also, the support and trust of my friends and clients is fundamental to be where I am today.
