We had the good fortune of connecting with Ajanay Banks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ajanay, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
For me the idea of having my own business started at a young age. I’ve always known this was the path I wanted to take, it was all just a matter of taking the steps to lead me there. When I began Paradise Blends Juice it was just a dream. I lived in Washington DC, which is a great city but can be cold up to 7 months out of the year. I had been there my entire teenage and adult life so I never considered leaving that area until the idea for a juice business popped in my mind. I chose Miami, I have always loved the city and would visit at least four times a year so it was an easy choice to decide to pack up everything and move within about 3 months of coming up with the idea. I didn’t know anyone or where to really get started but I knew I had a great concept and the most important aspect was my determination to help others. I believe we will truly get what we want in life by helping others, and I wanted to create a brand that made a difference in peoples lives. Our health is one of our most valuable assets, and there are so many people struggling with understanding where to start their health journey. My business focuses on health and wellness, providing nutrient dense blends and well balanced plans. I knew to be successful in a business, I needed to be in it for the right reasons, to me those reasons are are to provide a product that can create lasting change in my clients lives.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve come to where I am today professionally by never giving up no matter what hardships are along the way. Having faith in yourself plays a huge role in motivating you to go after your dreams. I know I am capable to achieve the impossible and that pushes me to continue my growth. Having this mindset in life and for my business is why I take the extra steps towards developing the highest quality product. A few things that set my brand apart, I only use organic ingredients, some of my produce is sourced straight from local farmers, packaging everything in sustainable materials like glass bottles and compostable takeout boxes. I only use alkaline water in any of my juices shots or smoothies and none of my products are using refined sugar, I only use dates in my products. My shop offers an easy way to kickstart a healthy lifestyle by providing weekly cleanses that are delivered right to each clients door. They can also opt in for weekly meal prep of plant based foods removing the guesswork out of the equation and leading them straight to taking action in their lives.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love this city for so many reasons, one is how vibrant and beautiful the culture is I would take my friend around the city to see some of the murals and paintings by local artists like the wynwood walls, and pop up exhibits like the Van Gogh exhibit. Another great spot to stop for art and tech fusion is artechouse in south beach it is an amazing sensory experience. For food there are a few places that I frequent, a definite stop on the list would be Aguacate Sactuary of Love. It is a beautiful space that offers plant based food while also having an animal sanctuary with one of the biggest pigs I’ve ever seen. Planta is another restaurant I enjoy and they have two locations so we would definitely check out both, the menus are slightly different but both plant based and very creative. Of course possible my favorite attraction is the beach, I like to go down to the south pointe area it is more residential for a nice relaxing day at the beach and it is also near a great gelato shop called Gelato-go they are right off of ocean drive at the end and they have the most dairy free options in the area.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
