“Life is what happens to you while you’re making other plans.” This quote is most often attributed to John Lennon, but apparently a lot of other people said something very much like it before he did (which brings to mind another great quote, presumably from Mark Twain: “Adam was the only man who, when he said a good thing, knew that nobody had said it before him.”). In any case, I have never been a good planner and tend to go with the flow of life rather than try to direct it. It might sound a little mainstream, but I am one of those who believe that books change lives. Therefore, one of my favorite quotes ever comes from The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky: We accept the love we think we deserve. This phrase means a lot to me since I applied it to every aspect of my life; I mean, I can’t settle for the worst if I give my best, so I don’t deserve mistreatment when I give love and light.
