We had the good fortune of connecting with Floor 13 and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Floor, what do you attribute your success to?
* Responding as all 3 members of record label Floor 13: Lucas Odparlik (Doctor Boom), Sophee Dukas (Sophee), The Audio Manipulator (Miguel Fernandez) Doc: “Floor 13’s main goal is to showcase global underground artists across a wide spectrum of club sounds, including lofi house, minimal tech, deep house, and more. Creating a tight network of culturally diverse creators, we keep our ears to the streets and our hearts on our sleeves, curating the label as a place for development and growth.” Sophee: “Sharing in our roster’s successes and happiness is key to us. Every artist we sign, we essentially are welcoming into our family. We work to establish the label as a place where sounds can get a little bit experimental and our artists can express their true selves. We’re passionate about our catalogue and consider each release a work of art. When you come to Floor 13 we want you to stay forever.” Miguel: “Selecting records for the label, I’m hyper aware as to the sound we are looking to push. We’re looking to sign club records that are a little leftfield and timeless while also being able to be played in any setting. When you play one of our songs, we want you to be immersed in the sound. Working with so many different kinds of artists, we’ve been able to create an atmosphere and aesthetic that defines who we are.”

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Floor 13 is a record label based in Miami and Tampa run by Doctor Boom, Sophee, and The Audio Manipulator. Our sound is a blend of classic house vibes for the club as well as deep tech sounds for the after hours. We are one of the only lofi house labels working on the East coast as well as in America, and use our platform to expose the world to new sounds and artists. We’ve been operating since 2018 and after 2 years don’t plan on slowing down. We are all passionate about house music and love seeing how far we can push the genre. Challenges are bound to arise in any venture, but we welcome them as opportunities and embrace the journey. Working together, we’ve learned that kindness goes a long way and the scene sometimes needs a lot more of that. Nonetheless, we’re dedicated to the unity that music provides and work to become a lighthouse in the music industry, a beacon of hope, lighting the way for the future of electronic music.

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
If you come to Miami the best way to absorb the culture is to avoid the tourist traps and immerse yourself in the underground club scene in places like ATV Records or The Night Owl. After emerging from the darkness and into the morning sun, a solid bet for Sunday Funday would be to hit up Riverside and enjoy downtown Brickell.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Floor 13 would like to shout out our amazing roster of artists who have established our sound. Many of our artists have been with us from the start such as White Wolf, SpockNinja, & Joe Gigs. New artists like Ky William, Christian Bistany, & Womack have been killing it lately as well. We’re deeply grateful to have worked everyone on the team and this wouldn’t be possible without you.
