We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Moriyon & Candice Montros and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer & Candice, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
We came up with the idea of opening The Brunchin Pup after rescuing our dogs, Helix and Lily. When we realized the negative stigma that follows rescued animals, we knew we wanted to do something to continue to promote adoption in a positive manner. With our products we hope to empower others to show off that rescues do it better and show how amazing rescued animals are. We also hope that our online boutique can fund a fully functioning dog rescue one day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets The Brunchin Pup apart from other dog boutiques is our mission to promote rescue animals. This is truly a passion project for us and more so than monetary gain, we want to make a positive impact in the lives of animals who need homes. We have been in business for two years, and we have had highs and lows, but together we have been able to overcome every obstacle and continue to improve everyday. Our mission and focusing on our big picture goals has allowed us to continue to push forward against any challenges. Some lessons we’ve learned in this past year is being able to give ourselves some grace and we put our shop on vacation mode for the first time to fully be able to celebrate a personal milestone. We want the world to look at our brand as a vehicle to promote adoption in a fun and trendy way, these animals are amazing and deserve to be celebrated!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Some of our favorite spots in the city are dog friendly of course! A perfect day would be brunch at Lokal, which is locally owned and has amazing food as well as a special doggy menu so your furry friends are always included. We would then talk a walk around Kennedy Park and enjoy an A.C.’s Icees on a sunny Miami afternoon.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to give a shoutout to Kirsten Atkins, owner of Southern Palm Designs, who designed the website of our dreams and has been so supportive of our brand. She was able to make a dream come true for us and truly helped us connect with our audience even further.
