Meet Aaram Kamali | Painter & Illustrator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaram Kamali and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaram, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“Placidly Amidst the Noise and Haste” This quote came from a band I grew up on named SOJA. Their music echoes much more than just sound but delivers a story, a way of living behind it. To be calm like water amongst the distractions daily life throws at us all. To be calm, relaxed, and able to absorb energy letting it pass through you is what this quote inspires me to take into consideration with everything in life. Nothing should be taken too seriously yet shouldn’t be forgotten to still be a part of the river we flow down.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art resonates with my childhood lifestyle. Being emersed in the rural countryside of Indiana an average day would consist of running through the woods, constantly absorbing sunlight, and playing with the abundance of animals my family had owned. My time outside then and now shines heavily in the content I create on canvas and paper. The idea of growth is a constant theme I continue to use throughout my pieces. To leave the viewer with the feeling of a growing journey with as much energy as I can provoke from the scene are some things I keep in mind when I pick up the pencil/brush.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Hocking Hills, OH, or perhaps Brown County State Park, IN. Plan to spend a week full of outdoor adventures. From caves to waterfalls to fields of flowers to running through ancient creeks; plan to pack your swim trunks and your campfire equipment.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I give a huge shoutout to Andrew Cooper “COOPER” for providing creative energy and physical motivation to continue what I love most.
