Hi Abdul, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Sometimes it is important to take risks. Without taking risks, you will not learn to become better or do better. It is failure that teaches us the biggest lessons. Every business is ventured into by taking risks. When I first started a business with my wife, I was quite naive, but I learned well from the mistakes. I studied my clients and their needs, what they want and how I can be of service to them. I learned about trusting and getting that trust in return. I definitely consider myself a risk taker and this gives me the chance to improve and do better as well as learn what didn’t work the first, the second or the several other times.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business mainly includes sales of the latest mobile phones and electronic gadgets as well as other smart electronic products. What sets us apart from others is the fact that we have built trust with our customers in such a short period of time to be able to do that, you need to be honest and authentic with your products. We are efficient and reliable unlike many other electronics stores.
I am very proud to say that I have become quite successful in such a short period of time and to own one of the most successful electronics businesses in the country. I am also pleased to be able to gain a lot of trust and loyalty from many people in this short time.
It has been a long hard road to success. I overcame the challenges thrown at me by never giving up, by taking risks, learning from failures and always aiming for success. It took a lot of patience and hardwork. I became who I am today by being sincere, honest and backing away when I had to and also by taking advice from those around me. Most importantly I wasn’t afraid to take risks and I grabbed every opportunity with a positive mindset.
I learned that good marketing is extremely essential to any business. I have invested a lot into marketing our products to our customers which in return has benefited in profiting the sales. I want people to know that nothing comes easy. Success is not achieved overnight, it takes a lot of patience and hardwork. I would always advise to be honest with whatever business you venture into, be honest with your work, your team, your products or services and I give that assurance to my customers.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since it says my best friend, we both know exactly where we want to visit and what we want to do. I would take them to a beautiful local island with untouched natural beauty. Start our day with a dive in the crystal clear waters and enjoy some beach volleyball on the white sandy beaches while quenching out thirst with freshly plucked coconuts. We will enjoy some authentic local delicacies prepared by the locals of course and cruise around the ocean fishing and sightseeing. It is truly spectacular to spend time in the islands after a busy period of non stop work. Even though I was born and grew up in the Maldives, the beauty of the islands still fascinates me.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Obviously, nobody becomes successful on their own. There is always something, or someone that motivates them, inspire or support them. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of a lot of wonderful people in my life. They have mentored me, inspired me and motivated me over the years. Firstly, my wife has always supported me from the very beginning even during my failures. My family has always kept me motivated. I wouldn’t be as successful as I am without giving credit to my team. Especially my business partner whom I trust and respect immensely. In this opportunity, I would like to dedicate a shoutout to my loyal customers and clients without whom I couldn’t have achieved what I have today.
