Meet Adriana Senise | Nay Ceo and fashion designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriana Senise and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adriana, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before I started my own brand I had been working as a fashion designer for 16 years in many companies. A
fundamental working period to my professional
maturity, as well as the learning experience
regarding the whole textile chain. Unfortunately
working in large companies, we tend to put profit
and financial gains ahead of any other value. A
mindset that started to bother me when I began
questioning my creations impact, and consequently
the sales regarding the whole production chain and
the people behind the clothes making process. Nay
was born of the desire to bring eco-friendly fashion
that is fair with the people behind the clothes in a
transparent, conscious, and ethical manner.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I love nature and people’s stories. That’s what inspires me to create pieces for Nay. I don’t follow colors or
modeling that are in current fashion tendency. I create
thinking in beauty, timelessness, and in pieces that
enchant, long lasting, and unique in its embroidery. I want
to make more than just fashion, I want to tell the story
behind all these pieces and the ancestry of this hand craft
from the different regions in Brazil.
It isn’t easy being an entrepreneur, every day it is a
different battle, we have to develop a mind that looks at
everything that happens with optimism, always thinking
quickly on how to solve problems.
I want to show the world that it is possible to make
fashion that is gorgeous, fair, having quality and
transparency with the whole production chain.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely recommend visiting São Paulo’s municipal market. Visitors would get to know all the native Brazilian fruits as well as regional foods. An explosion of colors, smells and flavors.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Surely, I wouldn’t be where I am if it weren’t for my parents, husband, family, friends, and work partners. We
are a great united family, and together we are stronger and
more capable of solving any problem and accomplishing
great dreams.
