We had the good fortune of connecting with Akeem Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Akeem, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Balance is important. Equilibrium is extremely essential. As much time as one make for work don’t forget to make time to relax as well. Not going to lie if you asked me this question a few years back I would say I don’t need to relax or a vacation. When in reality, you really do.i personally like to take 3-5 vacations a year if I can, if I can’t take full vacations I do small little getaways if I possible. After the vacation, you feel rejuvenated and fueled up different in time to go to work. Aside from vacationing, Wether I’m with friends, family or loved ones. That time you take to step away from work and give them more of yourself you actually receive more from yourself through others. Always set aside time for yourself in life away from. Reconnect with others or just reconnect with yourself. Stepping away from work gives you that breath of fresh air that you never knew that you need. Don’t get too consumed by the relaxation though because that relaxation can make one become lethargic. Take time to refuel Instead of succumbing to lethargy in the process.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I want to say the thing that I’m proud of the most is actually where I’m standing today. Honestly never thought I would’ve got as far as I am right now, it just amazes me to where I am right now compared to where I was when I first started. For a long time I kind of struggled with self doubt and nothing really could’ve cured it Honestly and after going to therapy I realize that I was the cure for my own self doubt and ever since I realize that I eliminated that self doubt with some work of course. I got to where I am today by just being me you know, I just kept it genuine in a sense, I wouldn’t do anyone anything that I wouldn’t want done to myself you know. A lot of it has to do it like networking and just being around the right people. You know not only did my good business skills help me along the way but it also help me to develop great relationships and friendships with some really good people in this line of work and I think my Humility and Uniqueness is what kind of kept those bonds strong. I learn a lot of lessons along you know just doing what I’m doing, I think one of the biggest one is just remain humble, no matter what you do just remain humble. Be a good person no matter how you’re treated don’t ever let anything on the road like shape you differently. Another thing I learned was speak up, if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything. If you like something or if you don’t like something speak up regardless you know just don’t be ignorant with it, Always be respectful because it’s the right thing to do. Was it easy? No I don’t think it was ever easy walking down this path. I wanna say like the people I surround myself with made it durrable for me. As I said earlier I struggle with a lot of self-doubt before and wherever I lack confidence my surroundings gave me the confidence that I needed. Weatherby like my family you know girlfriend or just my close friends it really fueled me to see everyone believing me. It also kind of gave me a sense of responsibility that I can’t let these people down, They’ve put your trust in me to make something of myself and to accomplish goals and I just have to do that. The thing that sets me apart I want to see is my versatility and my willingness to learn. Yeah even though I’m some little island boy I will do whatever it takes to learn the different genres and aspects of this career that were a unknown to me. Growing up always been the person who just can do anything he set his mind to. I feel like that’s what separates me from others, you know I learned the different aspects of different cultures and different genres which allowed me to perfect my skills in whatever I do today. What I want the world to know about my story and my brand is pretty much just I’m happy with making others happy through my happiness if that makes sense. My job is to provide happiness, and by providing that happiness I also gain happiness. And no matter what a person does to me or anything I don’t care if I don’t speak to them ever again in my life I just want them to know that regardless of anything they have my support. I’ve never been one to hold grudges or anything I’ve always been a supporter regardless if I get that support back in return

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
All right my friend is visiting me and I want to show that person the best time ever, the first place we go in is kayaking in the lake. I’m a I’m a very outdoorsy person I like to do like a lot of kayaking and bike riding I like doing outside stuff. Man let’s go outside let’s get some ATVs ride around a course or something. Rent out a few Jetske‘s go on the ocean. Let’s go parasailing in the middle of the ocean, LETS GO OUTSIDE Other than that there are a lot of places to go such as like different arcades, go karting, escape rooms, sports centers to have fun at. Let’s go visit a theme park or something, ride roller coaster. I’m also never one to knock going to the beach or the park. Let’s visit a zoo or something. As far as like food there’s so many places to like try, there’s Cuban places, Italian places, Caribbean places etc. the list goes on and on and on.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly…This thought process came from a 20 min conversation with my friend Freddy P. He just told me not to fully dedicate my time to work, give it enough attention yes! But remember the backbone of yourself and what built you. Family, friends, bonds, relationships, loved ones. Gotta water those flowers too in order for your business to grow as well. Watering those gardens allows you to grow better as a person. A business could be here today and gone tomorrow, but not family nor time that misused working when I could’ve been growing as well. Don’t overwork yourself and yes you can waste time by working too much. Anything lost can be found again except for time wasted – Kevin Gates
