We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
My name is Amanda Gonzalez and I am
the founder of Angels In Lace. I am a Quinceanera connoisseur. I pursued a creative career. For me, art has always been an emotional outlet – a way to express feelings when words failed me. My journey in the Quinceanera industry began as a makeup and hair artist, but I soon realized that many photographers were missing the mark! They failed to connect with their subjects, their style was generic, they used forced poses that lacked artistry. I saw an opportunity to bring a fresh perspective, to capture the beauty and essence of each Quinceañera as art. I believe every photo is a work of art, a unique reflection of the subject’s personality and spirit. That’s why I love what I do – I get to create art that celebrates each girl. I named my company Angels In Lace because I truly believe that every girl I photograph is an angel, and I wanted to bring a soft, innocent flair to the Quinceanera industry – something that’s much needed in today’s generation. My goal is to inspire girls to embrace their inner heavenly and angelic qualities, and to capture that essence through my lens. For me, photography is not just a job, but a passion that allows me to connect with others and leave a lasting impact as she journeys into womanhood.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is not just about taking pictures, it’s about creating an experience that captures the essence of my subjects. I take pride in getting to know each King Segnette on a deeper level, understanding their unique style, and bringing their vision to life. From the initial questionnaire to the final edit, I strive to create a personalized experience that makes them feel seen, heard, and celebrated.

What sets me apart is my dedication to understanding the person behind the lens. I believe that photography is not just about technical skills, but about connection, empathy, and storytelling. I’m most proud of the trust my clients have placed in me, allowing me to capture their most precious moments.

My journey as a photographer has been a winding path, filled with challenges and triumphs. I started with a humble Canon Rebel T7, and despite the limitations, I was able to create something truly special. That taught me that it’s not about the gear, but about the vision, creativity, and dedication.

Overcoming obstacles has been a crucial part of my growth. I’ve learned to embrace failure, take constructive feedback, and continuously improve my craft. I’ve also learned the importance of community, seeking guidance from mentors, and supporting fellow artists.

Today, I’m proud to say that my brand, Angels In Lace, stands for more than just photography – it represents the values of empathy, creativity, and connection. I want the world to know that my story is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose. I hope to inspire others to chase their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem.

In the end, it’s not about the camera or the equipment; it’s about the memories we create, the stories we tell, and the love we share. That’s what makes my art truly special.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Ah, what a fantastic question! If my best friend were visiting, I’d want to give them the ultimate experience. Here’s a week-long itinerary that showcases the best of Miami:

Day 1: Villa Toscana

– Start with a photoshoot at my favorite backdrop, Villa Toscana. With its private jet, swans, gondola, limestone waterfalls, white piano, gardens, meadows, graffiti art, and angel wings backdrop, it’s the perfect setting for some unforgettable memories.

Day 2-6: Miami’s Culinary Delights

– Lunch at Carbone, a retro Italian-American restaurant with over-the-top decor.
– Dinner at Joe’s Stone Crab, a Miami institution since 1913.
– Brunch at Big Pink, a fun and playful spot with delicious food.
– Dinner at Ball & Chain, a historic bar and lounge with live music.

Day 3: Spa Day

– Treat ourselves to a luxurious spa day at the Biltmore, complete with massages, facials, and relaxation!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to a few incredible individuals and a remarkable store that have played a significant role in my journey.

Firstly, I want to shout out to The Couture Closet, an extraordinary store with an astonishing selection of over 500 designer gowns. The owner, Suzette, and her daughter, Desiree, have been instrumental in my growth as a photographer. They believed in me from the start, even when I was just beginning. They opened their doors and have since made me their in-house photographer. I’m forever grateful for their trust and support.

Next, I want to acknowledge Milan, who stood by me as I learned the ropes of photography. Your guidance and encouragement meant the world to me.

I also want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my grandparents, and my mom. They immigrated from Cuba in the 80s with a dream and a determination to succeed. They’ve been my chief financial officers, mentors, and cheerleaders since day one. I’ve had the privilege of watching them build their own businesses from scratch, and my 79-year-old grandfather still offers me valuable business advice daily! My grandmother Lucia, a talented clothing designer who created stunning gowns. She may no longer be with us physically, but I know she’s the main angel in heaven cheering me on from above. My mom is the most successful woman I know and I am so blessed to have her unwavering love and support.

Last but not least, I want to thank my husband, Louie, for his unwavering support and business guidance. He’s an amazing father to our daughters, Lily and Lulu, and a constant source of inspiration.
