We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Walling and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
It’s all about trial and error for me, honestly. I’m grateful that I have a full time job as a customer service agent where I can pick my schedule and allows me to trade off days and such and gives me flexibility. It allows me to plan out my looks, YouTube videos, editing, etc. so I technically have one that pays my bills and one that I actually want as a career and me being able to focus on those two together is very helpful.
Only issue is sometimes I’ll be running off of one hour sleep/ no sleep (if I’m not tired I’ll still work around it. Because why waste time) and there’s also times where I’ll be painting a night before, way too excited to get the look done , I get stuck in detail and spend hours and it goes into my shift of my actual job. I end up going to work with paint in my ears. Due to me washing up after pictures and going straight to work.
Other than that, it’s trial and error until my career actually takes off.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I guess a way to keep myself busy would be to watch a bunch of videos on YouTube, or watch some anime. I deal a lot with art block, so sometimes that messes with my artwork. I’ll watch a lot of anime, play some video games (or watch markiplier/ jacksepticeye/corykenshin) or watch doll recreations (etellan) on YouTube.

There are also tutorial videos I’ll be watching to get me in the mood to at least want to create something.
If I’m unable to break out of it, I’ll do other crafts on the side like glass paintings, Dreamcatcher making. Etc. I scrap alot of my makeups due to issues like this. But it’s something that keeps me busy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d probably take them out to wynwood. Mainly because of the artwork. I love watching the artists paint out there. Probably the keys for fantasy fest and grab some drinks at the shops they have there. I’m so bad with names of places and whatnot. Lol

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My boyfriend Daren for always being a supportive boyfriend. Buying me makeup and paints. Also helping me with the problems with my looks and helping me with my pictures and YouTube. He’s amazing. My sponsor Travis (totalnightmaretravis) for including me in games and contests and introducing me to a lot of talented artists I know in other states via IG.
