We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelica Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angelica, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted something to do especially after having no hobbies even after the covid pandemic and so I chose to start doing nails even if I knew I wouldn’t be good at it right then and there.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a nail enthusiast I do get a variety of clients. My first client of the day might want a solid color and the next might want the most complicated designs on their nails, but regardless I always find peace in the art behind the process of a beautiful outcome. I find pride in my work and I do see it as a form of art since I try to be a perfectionist and love to have every single little detail to have the prettiest outcome. It was hard to get to where I am today being that I never worked a job before but somehow managed to create a successful business at the first try along with never having even touched regular simple nail polish but still managed to create something successful for me out of acrylic nails. I owe it all to how dedicated I was and the excitement of wanting to learn. I feel that it gave me the patience I needed to learn and to continue working otherwise I would not be where I am right now. I learned that as long as I dedicate myself to my craft and don’t overthink myself too much I can always have a really good outcome for any challenge brought to me.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I ever had a friend come down to see me I would take them to the beach followed by a peaceful picnic on the sand. I would choose the beach since I feel that anyone can find peace and fun in the waves and it’s the most beautiful thing to me about south miami.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to really shoutout my mom. I know most people give thanks to their family or parents and friends and it might be overused but I really am grateful for her. Without her I wouldn’t have had the funds to continue my business and would have gaven up a month into the process. I also want to give some credit to my wonderful clients since they’re the reason my clientele base continues to grow due to the referrals they bring me and how much they promote me to others.
